Time was running out, and the Dynamo had long passed the point of frustration when Brad Davis took a fruitful corner kick in the 86th minute Sunday night at Robertson Stadium. By then, the Dynamo had peppered the New England Revolution with a tremendous onslaught for the first 85 minutes. Even when they had put a ball over the goal line earlier in the game, though, the referee missed it. But with four minutes to go, the Dynamo’s perseverance paid off when defender Hunter Freeman shielded goalkeeper Matt Reis and scored the game-winner off his hand to beat New England 1-0. “We had so many chances during the night,” Freeman said in a mild understatement. “The one goal we scored was not the prettiest. That’s how it is sometimes.” The Dynamo outshot New England 26-9. They had eight shots on goal while giving up one shot on goal as Tally Hall collected the first shutout of the season.
