<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Eagles Lock Up OL Jackson July 20, 2006By BOB KENTThe Eagles locked up another young lineman Thursday as Jamaal Jackson agreed to terms on a seven-year contract that keeps him in Philadelphia through 2013. Jackson will meet the media later today and you can listen to his reaction and more by TUNING IN at 4 p.m. for Training Camp Live! with Dave Spadaro. We'll also bring you Andy Reid's camp-opening press conference at 5 p.m. C/G Jamaal Jackson A versatile lineman, the 6-foot-4, 330-pound Jackson gives the Eagles a mauling strength inside, a player capable of playing both guard and center. Jackson labored in obscurity with injuries for several years, but was annointed the team's starting center last season when veteran Hank Fraley suffered a torn rotator cuff in the Nov. 6 game against Washington. He made the surprising leap from the practice squad to the starting lineup and did a nice job in relief, and certainly set the stage for an interesting battle to watch in the spring and summer. Jackson originally signed with the Eagles as a rookie free agent from Delaware State. In other news, there's no update on negotiations with Brodrick Bunkley, the lone unsigned draft pick. Rookies and selected veterans are scheduled to arrive at Lehigh University throughout the day and will attend a 7 p.m. team meeting. Practices begin Friday as the team holds a pair of workouts -- at 8:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. DE Mohr Added As Part of International Program The Eagles also signed defensive end Christian Mohr to the practice squad for the 2006 season as part of the NFL's International Development Practice Squad program. A three-year veteran of NFL Europe, Mohr (6-6, 265) earned All-NFLEL honors for the second time in 2006 after leading the Berlin Thunder in sacks for the second consecutive season (4.5 in 2006, 4 in 2005). For his career, Mohr has recorded 52 tackles, nine sacks, and four forced fumbles. He spent the 2004 season on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad after winning World Bowl XII with Berlin. The 26-year-old Mohr played amateur football with the Dusseldorf Panthers from 2001-2004, earning defensive player of the year honors in 2002. He also spent time with Aachen Demons from 1999-2000 and was named defensive player of the year in his final season with the team. The Aachen, Germany, native attended Sporthochschule College in Koln, Germany.</div>http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/homeNews...il.jsp?id=51272
This one rather suprised me to be honest, from most Eagles fans I talked to they thought the Center position was a weakness last season which is why they tried to lock up Bentley. Why sign a weakness to an extension? I guess he must have been impressive in mini-camps or something.

We just saw Bentley as the better option than Jackson, but he dicked us over. It's a surprising signing to say the least, but Jackson is a solid player who should wind up starting for us at center, especially after this deal. At the very least we have a backup at the interior offensive line positions for the next 7 seasons.
