This Super Bowl is definetly the way it should've been all season. The way both these teams played this year was amazing, and the Super Bowl should be too. What's everyones thoughts on how this game will play out? Personally, I think the teams are evenly matched when it comes to offensive and defensive power, as well as discipline. They play totally different styles, but both teams have a great capability to mask their defenses and change anything to want to, at any time. Just look at how the Eagles went from dominating a great passing offense, to shutting down a great rushing offense. The Patriots did it too, shutting down the Colts and then the Steelers. To me, this game will be Andy Reid vs Bill Belicheck. Whoever comes up with the better gameplan, and whoever calls a better game will win the Super Bowl. Great QBs - Donovan McNabb is the first QB to ever throw 30+ TDs with less than 10 INTs. Tom Brady of course is a 2 time Super Bowl MVP and undefeated in the post season not to mention a great QB. Great RBs - Two different RBs, but great at what they do. Corey Dillon should've been in the Pro Bowl this year, and Westbrook should've been too. Dillon will run into your face and run you flat on your back, where as Westbrook will juke and cut your jockstrap into next week. This week against Atlanta, Westbrook proved he can not only catch the ball, but run it. Dillon pounded the ball against the Steelers defense, which did an amazing job stopping the run this year. Great Defenses - Jim Johnson is one of the best Defensive Coordinators in the league, and can disguise blitzes extremely well. Not to mention his supporting cast of Trotter, Kearse, and 3 Pro Bowl players in the Secondary. Romeo Crennel and Bill Belicheck are also amazing defensive minds. The defense has great leadership and can also provide tons of pressure with players like Richard Seymour. They have an amazing set of linebackers. Their secondary could be their only weakness, but after shutting down the Colts I don't think that's a problem. Great Kickers (I had to throw this in ) - Adam Vinatieri and David Akers are probably the best kickers in each of their conferences. Pressure never seems to bother them, and they both have a huge leg. There's more to compare, but I don't want to discuss all of it before we get some responses. Let me know what you guys think
The way the Patriots are playing right now. I don't think the Eagles will win, but i never leave the Eagles out of any game. They played extremely well against Atlanta's running game and their offense showed up without T.O. so it could go both ways. I just hope it's another exciting game like last years. My Pick: 35 Pats v. Eagles 31
Great QBs - Donovan McNabb is the first QB to ever throw 30+ TDs with less than 10 INTs.
This is a dumb stat. Int totals mean almost nothing. It is more about INT %. Same with TD % to determine how well a Qb really is playing. Now if he is only one to have a certain td% and still have a certain int% i am listening.
Great RBs - Two different RBs, but great at what they do. Corey Dillon should've been in the Pro Bowl this year, and Westbrook should've been too. This week against Atlanta, Westbrook proved he can not only catch the ball, but run it. Dillon pounded the ball against the Steelers defense, which did an amazing job stopping the run this year.
Dillon is the better back by far. He is more consitent and can grind it out. He is also capable of the big play. Westbrook is basically only good for the big play. If you want to grind it out and control clock, better find someone else.
Great Defenses - Jim Johnson is one of the best Defensive Coordinators in the league, and can disguise blitzes extremely well. The pats are going to come out 5 wide and then the eagels wont be able to blitz, and if they do, single coverage all over the field, and boom big play after big play. If they dont blitz they wont get consistent pressure and brady eats them alive.
Great Kickers (I had to throw this in ) - Adam Vinatieri and David Akers are probably the best kickers in each of their conferences. Well I hope your right BF1....I get into comparing later...still a ways away...right now I'm concentrating on tickets.
Westbrook ran for 96 yards on 16 touches. That's 6 yards per touch, so one big play a game? He had 135 total yards, I don't understand what else you want from the guy. They're productive in other ways, and this week Westbrook did it on the ground. How can you say Westbrook isn't consistent either? Look at this way, since the Steelers game his lowest total yards is 105. 118 yards - Cowboys 105 yards - Redskins 127 yards - Giants 193 yards - Packers 118 yards - Redskins 126 yards - Cowboys DNP Rams DNP Bengals 187 yards - Vikings Westbrook did not have over 100 total yards in 6 games this year (including playoffs), and 3 of them he did not play at all. 2 of those 3 were the last 2 games of the season and he's been amazing in the playoffs. We all seem to forget that he's only in his 3rd year in the NFL

I did not say he was only capable of 1 big play. He is capable of lots of big plays. He is NOT an everydown back if you want to have a grind it out kill the clock type drive. If the Eagles get ahead, they wont be able to kill clock, and pats will have chances to come back. If the pats get ahead, there is a chance they will just kill clock with dillon

I wont count the Eagles out completely, but the Patriots SHOULD win with the way they are playing now and have in past Super Bowls.

How did Westbrook fare against the Steeler D earlier this season? Some say, "Its not about yards per carry rather the number of attempts." I myself like to look at what percent of the total plays were runs. Pats ran 60% of the time yesterday. Philly was @ 56%. For this stat, Run% = (carries/(carries + pass attempts)) Bottom line; both the Pats and Eagles had effective ground games yesterday & did what they set out to do.

But Pats37 called Westbrook pedastrian, I justed want to see his definition of good game is. He pointed out stats so I returned the favor...and fine, westbrook had 17 yards on 6 carries with a cracked rib in week 9 vs. Pittsburgh, he must suck, right?
Cracked rib? Doesn't show up in the stat sheet, does it? 17 yards on 6 carries (cracked rib or not) meas that someone sucks... Maybe it was the coach that kept him in the game. I expected more out of Westbrook this past weekend. Play calling hurt his chances early, and helped his chances late. Either way, he had a respectable performance overall. I think that the Eagles will have a hard time getting enough bodies to match up with the passing attack of New England once the running game kicks in.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bednarik1963)</div><div class='quotemain'>westbrook had 17 yards on 6 carries with a cracked rib in week 9 vs. Pittsburgh, he must suck, right?</div> Dude. You are reading between lines that don't exist. I implied that BOTH had respectable games. No, Westbrook does not suck. I never said that. BW simply is a different style of back than Dillon. Buckhalter, were he not injured, would be the power back in Philly's O. Am I right?
Both RBs are good, just different kind of backs. I would like to see the Eagles win, but i just don't think it is very probable. And I like the Pats cause they are loaded with LSU players. 6 if I am correct.
Pats will destroy the just-happy-to-be-there Eagles. I'll enjoy it nevertheless, but for the rest of you I hope the commercials are hilarious. I'm already getting set for the parade on the 8th.
Oh man, I hate to see anyone so confident. I would attempt to smack you down if I thought the Eagles had a chance. It's no wonder most of the rest of the country can't stand New Englanders.
I don't think anyone can beat the Pats right now, not the best offense (indi) and not the best defence (pitts). The Pats are a mean machine ready for their dynasty. coach bill is ready for the best coach in the NFL award. If he wins and I think he will, then he will have a better winning percentage that vince himself. and more wins as well. good luck eagles and do your homework well so you don't look like manning or rothen who...
Yes, they beat the No 1 Offense and Defense. However, in the Eagles they get to play a team that is balanced, good on both O and D. People here are not giving the Birds enough props, and thats fine. When on February 7th, we are the Champs, then you can all look stupid.
