He wasnt expected to be anything in the NBA people called him a bust etc. and for him to play like that is huge and the fact he is 19 is even better.
Re: Early Surprises this year! I dont know if its much of a surprise, but it has been good to see Utah start off strong. They have been a team as of late that when healthy, they can be dangerous. They have a solid starting lineup especially at the 3 4 and 5 spot. I am really eager to see how this team does for the rest of the year. I dont know if they can compete with the Spurs, Mavs, or Suns come playoff time, but they are sure as hell doing good right now.

I think he has a big future with the Lakers, they need to sign him to a long term deal here in the near future.

Last year he showed amazing upside, this year he needs to start stepping into that role as the man on the Magic team, and controlling the paint both offensively and defensively.Early on however, minus the first game of the season Dwight Howard has actually not shown much offensive upside at all. He is turning the ball over alot on offense, not showing very good moves or offensive scoring at all down low. It's almost like he has seemed content on being a rebounder, and blocking shots so far this season.

But to see the Hornets undefeated and Dallas and phoenix struggling hasnt really surprised me. The Hornets have a great young nucleus, which has allowed them to play great ball. And as for the Mavs and Phoenix, I have never seen them as great teams due to their lack of defensive skills
Re: Early Surprises this year! Yeah, I can see D12 averaging 18 and 10 or 20 and 10 for this season, so it's not surprising that he has an upside.

Re: Early Surprises this year! I dont know why yall are suprised by Bynum. Hes a center on a Lakers team and was outve highschool(meaning he has huge potential). Lakers have always been defined by great centers. Ive always thought theyve been do for one since Shaq left. He really isnt suprising me, but im glad hes getting PT.

Re: Early Surprises this year! I dont know about 20 a night. But he has been working with Kareem, hes a lakers center(and they tend to be pretty good), and he has huge potential. He wont get 20 a night, I promise you that. But IMO, it was all in the matter of his playing time.
Re: Early Surprises this year! Zack Randolph has been scoring pretty well, especially with Brandon Roy in Portland. Wally Szcerbiak has impressed me too, scoring in bunches behind Paul Pierce.

Last year when he got over 20 mins a game, he was putting up 15ish a night. This is just reinforcment that he can score well. My big surprise is Baron Davis. Last two games against Hornets/Chris Paul: 0 turnovers. He's averaging 20 a game, and played all 48 vs. Dallas.
Re: Early Surprises this year! I'm a little surprised by Zach Randolph. I've always known he's been good, but he's really shot off to start the season off.
