Remember at the beginning of the season when the Kincks and the Nets started really hot, and everyone was talking about how the eastern conference is a lot better now? Well, with the Sixers clinching a playoff spot today with their impressive 40-35 record, I would like to point out that it is still the JV league. With the exception of the Magic, the Cavs, and the Celtics there is not a team in the East that would make the playoffs in the Western Conference. Last year we saw the Warriors miss the playoffs with 48 wins, first team ever to get that many wins and not make the playoffs. Also, Portland had a .500 record last year, which was good enough for the 16th best record in the League (would be playoff spot). The playoff race in the east is compelling to me only because the Bobcats might knock out the Pistons for the final playoff spot. While I am certainly stoked to be making the playoffs, I still would rather see the best 16 teams see postseason play. I know they need those games for TV ratings and what not, and most people in the east don't stay up late enough to see Western games, but I don't care to see the Cavs v Bobcats/Bulls/Pistons match up. What are your opinions? Stay the same? What changes would you make? Make leagues like the NFL and MLB?
