What if the realignment worked for the Wolves and they were in the East? Would they been the favorite out east? Would they be a lock to represent the East in the finals? Consider that the Wolves would have to play the Lakers, Spurs, Mavs ect ect only twice instead of four times a season if they were moved east.
There are good teams in the west to, but teh wolves would have an easier schedule. I think the wolves would represent the Eastin the finals no question.
Absolutely, the Wolves would dominate the east, they've had an excellent season in the west so far, so I think they'd do the same in the east.
I wanted this to happen for the longest time, there even was some discussion about it happening next season. Who knows what will happen, I hope something like this does happen though. What would happen? The Wolves would go on a killing spree. East Finals of course, there wouldn't be many teams that would give them trouble. KG would be the leading vote getter in the East for the All-Star Game. I think Spree would play better as well, alongside KG in the weak east, rather than just himself.
Yep without a doubt. The timberwolves would go to the finals and represent the East and probably will have the best record in the leauge IMO.
Well, as much as I hate to say it, nobody from the East would be able to compete. The Timberwolves are one of the best teams in the West and it would be a cakewalk for them in the East. However, hopefully the Pistons would then develop their 2nd overall pick and have a good rivalry going with the Timberwolves. That would be great to watch. Too bad that that it would take a few years to happen and only if the Twolves were transferred to the East. Twolves in the finals for sure though.
The T-Wolves would without a doubt be one of the top teams in the east and probably have one of the best records in the NBA. I'd love to see them going up against the Pacers four times a year.
hoops, is this a rhetorical question? absolutely, the wolves would rock the east. it'd be fun to see jermaine and big ticket square off more times then twice though...they always have good battles. jermaine matches up against KG as well as anybody because of his build/speed and athelticism. duncan matches up good in a low post situation, but when KG faces the basket, he takes duncan off the bounce easily. i dont know if anyone in the east could take mini in a 7 game series though...although, they could end up gettin dumped in the first round
Wolves would win the east, but still wouldn't win a championship. KG would be putting up even better stats than he does now, and guys like JO and Mash would lose their fame.
The Twolves are currently in first place in the Midwest division. Moving them to the east would be a joke, theres no legitmate competition for KG and his Twolves. The Nets and the Pacers are the only teams that could battle against them. Come playoff time, the Twolves are too deep and KG would finally pull them to their furthest potential.
Moving the Wolves to the east when make the conference even worse than it currently is. There will be no team who could come close in beating Minny in a best 7 series, Pacers could win 2 games but no more than that. The playoffs would be too predictable and therefore bad for the sport. Stern knows this, which is why they will stay in the west. However moving Memphis there would certainly of helped the east improve.
Yeah, I agree with AllNet. The competition level of the Eastern Conference would be destroyed. It would be monopolized by the Timberwolves. It does make more sense to move the Grizzlies to the East. However, this isn't about fairness. The topic is whether the Timberwolves would dominate, which they undoubtadly would do in the East.
It would depend on the timing of the realignment. If the current Wolves team was sent to the East, they would unquestionably be the team to beat. However, if the alignment took place prior to the acquisition of Cassell, Spree, and Kandi, I would wonder if the TWolves would have made those moves, or if they would have even been able to pull off those trades. I'm pretty sure other contenders would make moves to try and keep up with the TWolves. Let's remember, most of the trades and signings the Wolves did this last off-season was to compete with the Western powerhouses. I think the NBA definitely needs to do something to shake up the balance of power. The Western Conference has the majority of dominating teams. Maybe the NBA will do a realignment similar to the NFL.
There are two ways of looking at this. 1. We would have a cakewalk to the Finals if we moved now. 2. If we started in the Eastern, we would be worse because harder competition helps you work harder as a team.
It would actually make more sense for us the move to the Eastern Conference due to our location. Look at our nearest Western competitor.
The Wolves would pimp the right side of the NBA. They had 51 wins last year in the West - how many would they get in the East?
