<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Houston Rockets forward Eddie Griffin was found guilty of marijuana possession Tuesday. Harris County Criminal Court-at-Law Judge Larry Standley said he would sentence Griffin, now with the New Jersey Nets, on Feb. 13. Standley convicted Griffin of the misdemeanor after a daylong bench trial in which defense attorneys challenged the legality of the search that led to his April arrest. "This is not expected to have any impact on Eddie's play with the Nets, or interfere with his ability to make a comeback," said Griffin's attorney, Rusty Hardin. Griffin, who signed with the Nets following his release from the Rockets, also is scheduled to answer a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Feb. 13. That charge is based on an alleged fight with a woman in October. Hardin said his client has not yet been indicted on the felony charge. </div> More here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1713844
I'm sure it would just be a fine or community service only...I don't see him getting jailed for it since he's a first time offender...
A day-long trial for misdemeanor posession? Sounds like a waste of time for just a slap on the wrist. Eddie should be much more concerned about his upcoming felony indictment.
