<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MANKATO, Minn. ? Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin's season started with a misstep. Griffin will be fined for missing media day Monday at Target Center and the team dinner later that evening in Mankato, coach Dwane Casey said Tuesday. Griffin said he left the Twin Cities on Friday to go to Houston for personal reasons. The 6-foot-10 forward missed his return flight, Casey said, and arrived Monday night in Mankato. Griffin attended both practices Tuesday. Griffin said fans shouldn't interpret the miscue as another bad sign. "They shouldn't be disappointed," he said. "I've been working hard, and my play is going to show on the court. They ain't going to be disappointed once we start playing." The team isn't treating the issue as a big deal. "It's all water under the bridge right now," Casey said. This comes as Griffin continues to deal with a civil lawsuit filed against him stemming from a car wreck last season in which he hit a parked vehicle. The suit alleges Griffin was drunk and watching pornography while driving. Griffin said that he maintains the allegations are "bogus" and that he refuses to reach an out-of-court settlement. In other events this summer, Griffin had laser eye surgery and said the procedure has helped him read more clearly, though he isn't sure how much of a difference it will make on his shooting ability.</div> Source
It's a lack of discipline on his part. Media day is a big ordeal for fans being able to interact with players. Part of his obligation to the team and franchise is showing up for these events.
The guy was drunk and workin' it while he was driving? That takes a level of ambition I could only dream of having.
