Will he ever be a great player? He played good in his rookie season but he had a ok season last season. He is still young like 20 and is an awsome shot blocker and 3 point shooter but seems like he is soft. What do yall think of him and what will he average?
hes got everything he needs to be a superstar in the league. hes just unmotivated it seems. the arrest wasnt helpful at all. he needs a disciplinary coach to push him to his limits.
well he still obviously has some time to turn things around, but right now it looks like he's going to be one of those really talented players who never pushes himself and who never lives up to expectations. he just needs a ton of all around work. mainly in defense, and shooting, and he just needs to mature. its funny though that everyone thought that the nets trading him on draft day was a bad move, but now its turned out to be a fantastic move.
oh yeah right, what a stupid reply olskool. real mature!!! everyone knows that antoine walker has the mvp wrapped up for the next 10 yrs

Back on the subject, I think that Griffin will blossom into being a great player in this league. He is one of those who can put up 20, 10 and 5 every night. What he needs his some control and self discipline taught to him. He has so much talent and energy he just needs to learn on how to focus it so he can become a great player.
People have critised the rockets franchise for trading richard jefferson and jason collins and getting griffin instead..but griffin is only 21!! he has loads of time to improve and be a good player..he can shoot, rebound, pass and could turn out to be a good defender...but i wouldn't expect him to do that much for a few years..but maybe next year he could break out? i certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.

In the short term the Nets certainly got the better end of the deal but I think the Rockets got the best part in the long run. Griifn will break out and start playing his best ball at the same time as Yao. The Rockets made the trade for the long term because they were rebuilding for 3-7 years in the future when they made the trade. I think Griffin will also break out this year.

Van Gundy is either going to turn Griffin into a defensive weapon or he is going to trade him for a player willing to sacrifice his body and offensive stats. I hope Posey & Griffin buy into Van Gundy's style, because both have great defensive instincts already. The Rockets have all the pieces they need to make the playoffs and contend against the West. It's just a matter of everyone playing as a team and learning Van Gundy's style. Step 1 is to get Yao & Francis to co-exist and to get Yao more touches. They should learn to run the offense through Yao because he is a great passer and can draw his defender outside because of his shooting touch. This will allow the slashers like Mobley and Francis to drive to the hole.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "truemaster14":</div><div class="quote_post">This guy will be average, and inconsistent forever. The Rockets should have kept Richard Jefferson.</div> we drafted jefferson with a request by the nets. if we didnt have a deal in the works. we probably woulda taken michael bradley or steven hunter at 13. because at the 3. we had a trade in the works to get TMo from atlanta.
