I hope this is his season to put up a minimum of thirty double doubles and increase his number of blocked shots. I hope the pay out is huge for his slow development. Like my little cousin didn't walk till a year and a half and now she's two and speaks well and can read. This all depends on if Vandy believes in him and doesn't trade him. I, however, wouldn't mind seeing him on the East Coast. What does everyone think about Eddie?

He has all the physical abilities to become a good player he just needs to get the mental game in check. I expect him this year to have a breakout year. Opposing teams this year will be concentrated on Francis and Yao, so I expect Eddie to slip under the radar and put up good numbers. I think I will give Eddie two more seasons to prove his worth to me. As for trading him, I dont think the Rockets would do that. They currently have a young, talented core of talent players with Francis, Ming, and Griffen as the leaders. I can easily see Griffin averaging 15 and 5 this year along with getting a few blocks per game.

I just think if Vandy doesn't see any improvement from him he'll be on the block. The young excuse is just that an excuse. Eddie is truly a gem and I think another team would benefit better with him on the roster than Houston. He's like the 4th option and should be the 2nd with his talent. I like seeing him in Houston but it'd be better for him to be elsewhere.
I think they should play him at SF. Then try to get a tough pf to help YAO. Griffen is a good outside shooter so i think he would be better at sf.
I don't think SF would be effective for him. Now if he played horrible defense then yes because he would obviously have a height advantage but he's decent on the defensive end. It's on the offensive end where he often looks lost. He likes shooting the 3 but he needs to look at his stats and recognize it's not working for him. I say stay at your position, get the basket and the foul and boom...there are your 3 points with a tiny bit of a breather at the line.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Asha11415:</div><div class="quote_post"> I say stay at your position, get the basket and the foul and boom...there are your 3 points with a tiny bit of a breather at the line.</div> Exactly. He needs to recognize that most PF's he goes against arent as quick or athletically gifted as him. He needs to take the ball to the whole instead of taking 17 feet jumpers. Im also against him moving to SF. He is a great defender and would actually help us as a PF rather than a SF.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dexter:</div><div class="quote_post">He needs to recognize that most PF's he goes against arent as quick or athletically gifted as him. </div> Yes! He would make all the difference if he was running the plays correctly and giving up his fascination of being behind the arc. There are loads of players who are scared of the paint but at least they get down there and mess up instead of never getting down there at all. I believe he'd even get more plays for himself and they could bring Mobley off the bench. I don't like him [Mobley] in the starting lineup or at all for that reason but that's another thread. I will be cheering the hardest for Eddie this season but I'm also taking bets that he'll be on the East Coast by All-Star weekend.

I dont think he will be on the East Coast by All-Star weekend. Im pretty confident that he wont get traded till the end of this year if he does in fact get traded.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dexter:</div><div class="quote_post">I like you detest Mobley and would love to see him gone. </div> Detest and gone are both an understated verb and adverb (respectively) as to my thoughts about Mob me me me. I would love to start a thread and reveal my harsh feelings about him but I'll wait until the season begins. Even then I might be wary because somehow I know my and other's keystrokes concerning him will indirectly stroke his ego somehow. Back to Eddie. The people that I know who describe themselves as shy absolutely "love" attention. Maybe attention is what he needs. I don't know the specifics of the "weed" incident but it screamed, "Look at me, notice me!"
another one of eddies problems was rudys rotation. eddie never saw anything in the 2nd or 4th quarters. thats why every time he was in he'd rush his shots. because he knew he wasnt going to be in the game later. if you remember back to alot of the games, there were times when hed have 8,9,10 points in the first quarter...but only finish the game with 12 or 13.

I mean why would you not play Ming in the last part of the 4th quarter? The same could be said with Griffin. Hopefully Van Gundy will be good at getting people in the game when they need to be in the game. OT, its going to be really weird going to a Rockets game and not seeing Rudy on the bench. However change is good.
eddie showed so much promise in his rookie year but then he didnt look like the same eddie griffin i saw in his rookie year. i saw a 6'11 guy jacking up threes. im a big fan of his and i hope he has a breakout year
