Do any of you know what the deal is w/ Eddie? Is he a Net or did you release him? I cannot believe this guy went through all this, he had major potential and I believe he can still make it. He is a great player - outside shooting, blocks, dribbling, post moves. He could actually turn out to be like a Tashaun Prince type of player because he is extremely long and can cover alot of ground. I actually covered him twice my senior year of HS when he was a freshman, great player. Well anyway, any updates on him?
He was released by the Nets during the regular season, so he could get medical treatment in a rehab center in Houston. They said in the Daily News that he is expected to return to the Nets by the start of camp next season. He probably will take part in the Nets summer team (I am guessing). He still pretty young but I think alot of the expectations that were put on him coming out of Seton Hall a few years ago are now gone. So hopefully he will continue to get his act straight off the court & come into camp next season motivated to re-establish himself on the NBA level. And he can become a solid role player, in our efforts to win a championship. His lenght & moblity is much needed on New Jersey frontline.
I can't wait to have him on the team. He averaged a double double during his freshman year and has been compared to SAR with better athleticism and TD coz of his steady game. He'll be a great off the bench player as a reliever to either KMart or Jefferson.
yeah he will but you know about seton hall players is that they tend to not make it in the nba. I.E. Terry Dehere which was a great player and Adrian(think thats how you spell ti) Griffen, theres one more i cant remember he also played with Dehere
if we get the real eddie, that will be a huge pickup for us. we would then probably try and make the rumored trade for ray allen instead of sar. of course we wont know what kind of eddie we will be getting, but if rod has a sense of where eddie is at and if he is going to make a committment to eddie, then i would be suprised if we got sar. this(being apart of the nets) is a good situation for eddie to come into. he doesnt have to be that superstar that everyone was saying he was going to be coming out of SHU. he wont have that pressure to become the man. he will have little/no pressure coming off the bench and just playing his game. he wont have to worry about trying to carry a team or be the number one option. he can come in, get a handful of rebs and a hand full of points, thats all he will have to do here. im sure on some nights he will go for 20/15 but he doesnt have to on an everyday basis. come in and get 7/4 or something along those lines. game by game he can gain more confidence by not worrying that if he makes a mistake it might cost the team the game b/c he knows if he messes up he will have kmart come in for him or rj and kidd behind him. he has great people around him to help him grow and keep his head in the game and straighten his life out. when nets players are interviewed, they all say they are a big family and tight bunch and care for each other. thats what eddie needs, people who care for him and want him to succeed and want him to show the nba what he can do. he just needs to be strong and trust the nets org and he should be fine. we help him get his life back in order - he helps us win an nba champions. i think thats a fair trade.(not to mention he is winning a nba champ for himself too. its a win-win situation for eddie really)
Eddie Griffin had drug problems right, and some kind of court case??? Anyways Griffin is the guy you guys traded for RJ and if he's back I would be content but if he isnt then I'd be mad. From what I've seen from this guy, he is a great player with oozing potential. Griffin doesnt remind me of Tayshaun Prince at all though(pgrudo00).
