And an attorney representing Curry was just as adamant that the test is not going to happen. The legal wrangling over Curry, who missed the final month of last season with an irregular heartbeat, has intensified with training camp opening Oct. 3. It appears certain Curry will play for the Bulls' $5.14 million qualifying offer and then become an unrestricted free agent next summer. At that point, it appears Curry will leave the Bulls. ''We feel if Eddy is under contract to us and accepts the qualifying offer that we have the right to ask him to do certain things to make sure he's capable of playing,'' Paxson said.</div> <div align="center">Source</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"It's a hard situation for Eddy right now," said forward Tyson Chandler, Curry's closest friend on the team. "I told him to be patient and understand that this is a business. They have to do what's right for the organization, and he has to do what's right for Eddy Curry." Curry could accept the one-year offer, then refuse to submit to DNA tests. Such a move could prompt the Bulls to release Curry from his contractual obligation, in which case he would become an unrestricted free agent.</div> <div align="center">Source</div>
the more and more this goes on the more and more i think Curry is the biggest idiot around. doesnt he even want to find out for himself the risks he could be taking.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting I-Miss-MJ:</div><div class="quote_post">the more and more this goes on the more and more i think Curry is the biggest idiot around. doesnt he even want to find out for himself the risks he could be taking.</div> I could not agree with you more. The more and more this goes on and information starts to surface the more it occurs to me that Curry knows more about his situation then he is letting the Bulls organization know. Why else would you refuse a standard DNA test that could get you a big long term contract you are looking for? He is making himself look shadier by the day, losing respect in the Bulls fan base, and looking like he might be the cancer who will drag the team down this season.
Oh boy. Trade this bastard while we can I say, if he doesn't want to find out if he could potentially DIE on the floor during an NBA game, let him risk his life, but not on my favorite team. He's listening to all the wrong people, people telling him if he takes it then theres a chance he wont get the money. Actually, with the level of intelligence he's shown, he needs to take an IQ test more than he needs this DNA test
I agree^ If curry continues this he will most likely be on the free-agent list until next year. He's really being a big idiot. But there is always hope for him--> Isiah Thomas
Well Curry obviously is a strange guy. He should find out what is wrong with him, and not be so greedy for a huge contract. He also is lazy, and overweight. If he got into shape he could decrease the strain he puts on his heart.
I'm with all of you guys, we need to get rid of him, hes going to have only a negative effect on the bulls thus far on. I've lost so much respect for him, and even though everyone says he has so much potential, i dont think he'll ever reach it. He has a poor work ethic and only averages like 6rpg, which is ridiculous for someone his size and build and experience.
damn in a year or two he'd be one of the best offensive centers, I think we should trade him while we can

Everyone is a loser with the Eddy Curry situation. The Bulls are in a tough spot with Curry threatening to sit out the season. Do they pull the QO off the table now, and let Curry become an UFA? Or do the Bulls sign him for the QO and simply watch him walk next season as an UFA? You likely have to rule out any team willing to get involved in a S&T at this point. Eddy Curry has put the Bulls in very tough spot because they have to decide to rent him at $5+Million for one season, and watch Curry leave. If he stays healthy, then another team will take the risk next summer and the Bulls will be left in the cold. If Curry is not healthy, then the Bulls just spent $5+Million for nothing. Also you have to ask yourself why is this information being leaked by both sides? Is Paxson trying to prepare Bulls' fans for the inevitable, and softening the backlash when Curry is not re-signed? How does Curry benefit from threatening to sit out the season? I would hate to be in this situation, but if I was the Bulls' owner I would have to take the QO off the table and let Curry walk. It sounds like Curry is going to leave no matter what, so why spend another $5Million on him? Let some other team use their cap space and take the risk of Curry being able to ever play again. Instead spend the money next summer on a free agent.

With all the young talent the Bulls have on their roster eventually when their contracts expired the Bulls where going to be faced with the same choice that the Nets where faced with when Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson hit free agency. The Bulls would have had to let one of their promising youngsters go in a sign and trade or something of that nature, but with Curry?s ultimatum of possibly sitting out the season or just walking after this season he is essentially making the decision easy for the Bulls. I read in a article somewhere a while back when free agency started that should we have resigned Chandler for the max and not have resigned Curry at all we would have saved in the neighborhood of 8 million dollars, along with Davis? expiring contract, for next offseason. Money that the organization could use to resign Deng, Hinrich, and Gordon. A good quality big men is a dire need in the NBA these days, but who is to say you can not succeed with a multiple number of good hard working big men? The Bulls never really had a dominating center in the dynasty days like Jackson referred to them it was basically a goon squad with Bill Cartwright, Longley, etc. We could essentially have the same thing we already have a good rebounding and defensive power forward in Chandler, with Malik Allen, Othella Harrington, and Songaila at the center rotation this team could still be successful. Not to mention if we resign Davis next season to a small contract we will have toughness, and guys willing to make a hard foul and protect the paint. As I look at this team should Curry leave, it reminds me so much of the championship rosters that it?s scary.
Another reason to part ways sooner than later with Curry, is allowing the rest of the team to move on. It's harder to focus when you have a huge uncertainty sitting on the bench. Similar to how the Magic had to deal with Grant Hill's health issues. It was hard for the team to move forward, because they never knew if Hill was going to be in the line up or not. Next summer the Bulls will be one of the few teams with money to pursue big men free agents. Possible canidates could be Nene, Pryzbilla, Evans, Wilcox, Ely, Wright, Al Harrington, Gooden, Kandi-man to name a few.

It would be unfair to our current players to say 'hey if Jordan could do it, why not them?' No, what we have to ask ourselves is: Do we have a real chance of getting a quality inside player via free agency next year, be it a PF or a C, so he can play the role Curry played last year, but better (more minutes, more rebs). If we do, save up the money and let Curry walk, if we don't, give Curry the qualifying offer. It's risky, but it's only a one year offer. Who knows what will happen in the next year... So now, anybody has any idea if there are quality PF's hitting FA next year? The more i think about it, the more i feel we should have made a offer to Shareef Abdur-rahim...better rebounder and defender than Curry, has enough offensive skills to draw a DT, and he's a good guy, a professional , never whines about anything (and let's face it, he has been in some pretty nasty situations since the beginning of his career), basically a guy the young guys can look up to.

Back then we had Paxson and Kerr but they could not stay in there for a long period of time without Jordan and Pippen in and hold it down. In our offense we can intertwine Pargo, Gordon, Hinrich, Duhon, and others at the guards slot as well as Nocioni and Deng at the small forward slot. If we can get everyone to do their jobs we will be good we do not need one guys leading the league in scoring like Jordan.
i predicted that he may sit out the season. At this point i dont care if he plays or not. im still excited about or season because we are gonna make the playoffs reguardless. Go Bulls!

Curry was very important on the offensive end. And now you're saying: We got to our championships without a decent interior in Jordan's days, so we should be able to do it now too. You're saying this team reminds you so much of the old days it's scary...I don't buy that. You say Pax and kerr couldn't hold it up longer than spot minutes. What makes you believe Pargo and Duhon could hold up without Hinrich and Gordon who are the primary scorers? No, let's face it: we need a strong inside presence at this time if we want to get somewhere in the play offs, and if we lose Curry (the one from last year, who was in shape), we're losing a whole lot. No need to kid ourselves about being as good without him, just because he's being a pain in the ass right now. This situation sucks, period.

I am not trying to say this team is any where near the level of the championship teams, but that the build they have molded the team into is similar, should Curry leave. Will he be missed? Of course he will it will put more pressure on the guards if he is gone to create their own shot considering they will not have as much separation as they once did. However, the situation is not all dark our defense will improve with Songaila, and Davis playing a majority of the minutes at the center position. Should Tyson refine his offensive game he could make the loss on the offensive end less obvious. With or without Curry with the moves we have made this offseason I believe the roster is capable of winning games, bad being successful. Do I feel Curry will be a future all star should he stay healthy? Yes I do but I also feel the same way about Deng, Hinrich, and Gordon and if letting Curry go puts us in a better position to resign those players I don?t mind it that much .

Obviously not resigning Curry to a 60+ million contract puts us in a better situation for resigning our other young guys, and i do feel the others fit in better with what the Bulls are trying to do, so maybe it's all for the best. But still, as everyone knows, great centers are hard to come by, and Curry could have become one (still could of course...). So i can't help but feel that this would be a lost opportunity if he would leave. And for all the talent we have, if Curry would go, that leaves us with no consistent low post threat, so i hope Paxson has a backup plan should that happen.
