So i was thinking, and wondering, why the hell would we bring in matthews if we just drafted EW? Yea some might be thinking, "hes a project, we, wont play him this year" However, to the best of my knowledge, as a first round pick he has a guarenteed contract right? When can he be traded? I heard someone say in August??? Ok the real reason ive been thinking, and it makes sense, is that he is a part of a trade already lined up for when the blazers signed matthews Am I making sense? Also, makes you wonder why he hasnt played in summer league when reports are that he is 100% and that he feels good
I wish we could see him play a bit after all the talk about his ridiculous hops and his ability to amaze people with his athleticism, according to Bourn and Buchanan. Or maybe that's just driving up his value, and the real player we wanted is ARMON!
Williams shoots with this team every day. I don't think he scrimmages, but he's shooting with them and sitting with them and participating. Surely someone like the Oregonian could tape some of this and show it, similar to Oden films we've seen when Oden first tried to come back. We could see Williams rebounding as high as he can and taking on players one on one.
To add to this conspiracy theory, Williams has said he is healthy, and could go in summer. It's Portland that won't let him. He practices every day according to him. However. It was SA that was reportedly very interested in Williams before the draft, and with the whole green light for TP thing, it makes sense that he would go in a package to SA for Parker
Sounds to me that he could be included in an announced trade; with it becoming official on August 7 to obey league rules.
I'm fine with going for TP as long as we don't give up Roy,LMA, Oden or Batum for him. My fear is he becomes a one year rental joining Batum on the Spurs making Portland look like idiots. GM Toonces look out for that cliff!! Noooooo!!!
As it would be easier getting Matthews than LeBron. Larry Miller is afraid to think big, or even life-size.
Player to be named later, baby! It works in baseball, why not basketball? Miller, JPEC, and PTBNL for Parker.
I think Elliot Williams is part of the "fill in" for whatever other players (Rudy, Bayless) are going to be dealt shortly... If POR was going to use him in a trade then they would not have signed him...
Signing him lets him count in a trade in terms of salary difference. An unsigned player doesn't. He seems oddly redundant with Bayless on the team... but he might just have been too good a value at our spot not to draft. Ed O.
