Sean Elliott's No. 32 and Avery Johnson's No. 6 will both likely hang in the SBC Center within the next couple of years.

Elliott played 669 games — the third-most in franchise history — in 11 seasons with the Spurs. He was selected to two All-Star Games, owns the Spurs' career record for 3-pointers (563) and made the "Memorial Day Miracle," a shot that helped catapult the Spurs into their first NBA Finals.

Johnson, who is playing in Golden State this season, made the shot that won the 1999 NBA championship and is the Spurs' all-time leader in assists (4,474).

"Those are two of the greatest Spurs," said Spurs assistant coach Mario Elie, who also was a member of the '99 title team. "They're just great people. It's not only about the basketball; it's also about the person.

"I'll make a special trip here to see those guys' jerseys retired."</div>

Man, that would be great! Those two really deserve that. But that brings up a query I just thought of. What about Alvin Robertson? I know he played on the cellar Spurs, but it was really just his bad luck that Robinson had to serve two years in the Navy, or else he might have been on some real playoff contenders. Remember, he was traded for Terry Cummings in the '89 offseason, in which Robinson finally joined the team. In the seasons when he was there, however, he was perhaps the greatest ballhawk ever, setting single season steals records, and eventually winning three steals titles, which is (tied for) the most ever by a single player. Robertson practically was all the Spurs were known for in the pitiful era between the Iceman and Admiral.

At least Sean Elliott's No. 32.
