When I went to the gym at lunch I noticed that about half the TV screens on the 18 elliptical machines were set to the Food Channel.

Are people trying to calculate how many calories they need to bank to eat the food they're seeing or do they just want to torture themselve above and beyond the torture of the work out?

Hmmm, that reminds me... I have 400 calories to spend. How many calories in chicken nachos again? :devilwink:

Tell me about it... I wish I'd never even tasted them.

    I need a nacho 12 step program.

Nice, I like the way you think... and technically refried pinto/black beans are legumes, right? Those are healthy.

If I work this right I can rationalize this whole thing into a meal as healthy as two servings of vegetables and lentil soup.

Would corn chips be considered whole grain?

The Food Network is so much better than Animal Planet. Dear Lord, seeing abused dogs on the screen when you've got 25 more minutes of elliptical work ahead of you is terrible.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Maybe the expanding size of Rachel Ray is meant to be a cautionary tale to those working out in the gym?

Because I'm always so morose when I get onto the machine that I don't think to change the channel until I'm into my workout... ugh.

I usually end up squinting at the ESPN broadcast about 25 feet away, past the TV showing animal control officers pulling 37 malnourished kittens out of a garbage disposal.

I seriously can't watch that channel.

But I can watch hours of forensics shows and biographies of serial killers... what's up with that?!?
