Monta just bought Lorenzen Wright's former home near Memphis. But one "team insider" says the Grizzlies are not trading for him. Remember, the proposed trade was Mayo, Hadadi, and Thabeet for Monta (plus filler?)

    ESPN Insider:
    Tillery's article:
    http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/may/30/grizzlies-sticking-to-their-script/

Tillery acts like his "team insider" source is the GM himself or something. Just because one person somewhere with the team denies that it's happening, that doesn't mean it's not happening!

If not, no harm done. But if the trade proposal is still alive, would you do it?

    I would.

Mayo fits better with Curry at the SG, and you get two 7 footers. Not even just 7 footers -- Hadadi is 7'2" and Thabeet is 7'3"...C'mon!

FWIW I heard Monta's baby's momma is from Memphis (which is also pretty close to his hometown of Jackson, MS). I believe its also rare for any trades to happen now. We're still a month away from the draft and the playoffs haven't even ended yet. I would assume that hes buying a home for himself and his family.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Still, if for some small reason though, the trade were still "in the works," is it something you would do? :)

prior to taxes, dude has earned 24M so far and is due another 33M. While a trade might be in the works to send ME to Memphis, someone with that sort of bankroll buying a second residence isn't a strong indicator IMO

I wouldn't do this trade for the same reasons as before. OJ Mayo is NOT better than Monta and is NOT a better fit with Curry just because he's 6'4", which is still small for a SG. Thabeet, I believe is a bust. Hadadi is not an NBA player.

I'm with kajita. Thabeet has been a huge bust thus far and though its far too early to judge he hasn't shown much to be hopeful about to my knowledge. Also agree that haddadi isn't an nba player. Monta is a lot better than mayo and size difference isn't enough to jusify the move, especially withmonta holding his own defensively as a full time sg.

    Its a good offer though.
