Elton Brand : "killin' em softly" As everyone knows, the Clippers as a franchise have been for the most part an absolute disaster since moving to LA in 1984. Since that time, many talented players have come and gone, but never have LA Clipper fans had the pleasure of enjoying and supporting a special player the likes Elton Brand. Elton, now entering his fifth NBA season has continued to improve his already rock-solid game. A relentless worker, a consumate team player and as humble an individual as you'll ever know, Elton Brand is blossoming into an elite player on the professional level. Coach K knew he was special, so did his teamates at Duke and his friends and family who watched the unassuming big man develop his skills on the courts of Peekskill, NY. Elton Brand is officially a superstar, whether many recognize this fact is irrelivant. Now that he's established in Los Angeles with his new 6 year contract, he and former Duke teamate Corey Maggette are poised to forge a new attitude and bring with it a new level of expectations for the "other" NBA franchise in LA. Number 42 is a prime example of what the league should be about, less flash - more substance. Let your game speak for itself. You'll never see him shout down an official, disrespect an opponent, or lose himself in the life of decadance that too many NBA players of the era have succumbed to. Elton Brand may never be a household name, but in the hearts and minds of Clipper fans everywhere, he'll be much more than that. He very easily may be recognized as "the man who saved the Clippers", and considering the history of this team, that is a fairly substantial accomplishment.
