An impressive away win saw Milan march back to Italy with all three points in the bag after downing their Dutch hosts Heerenveen. An own goal from Calvin Jong-A-Pin and a fine strike from Gennaro Gattuso put the Rossoneri ahead in the first half.

Filippo Inzaghi got in on the act after the break, scoring to make it 3-0. The game was not over, though, and with five minutes remaining the home team scored a consolation penalty, with a 3-1 win for the visiting Rossoneri confirmed by the full-time whistle.

Emerson commented after the game, saying, “I always try to do my best for the team. At the moment I am doing well, especially compared to last year when I did not manage to do my job well because of my injury.

“Team is doing well and the coach is able to rotate. We all work effectively during training and, having now recovered many players, the coach has many choices. Only eleven players can go on the pitch, of course.”

“Rino? He played a great match and also managed to score. It's always easy to play alongside him, because he is a player full of heart who always thinks first about the team and then about himself,” enthused the Brazilian.
