nothing was really expected from these players when they came here, yet all 3 have had better seasons, had more a positive affect on the rangers team they played for then the 3 main stay dmen in staal ,girardi, and mcdonagh.... and to be fair girardi had a very good year but did nothing in PS , and lets not talk injuries cause if you go through every teams year end roster, there would be plenty of hairline fractures and strains, zooks mcd's injury appeared more noticeable.. the contracts given out to girardi and staal were ridiculous. and will hurt this teams chances of getting what they really need ... lets not even bring nash and st louis into this, please.
I wanted them to sign Stalman back... Eminger was a scrub, Klein hasn't been the same since his iniury
Pasta I know you had a thing for Eminger, the reality is he's not even in the NHL anymore (he played in Russia, now in the minors) and if it werent for all the support Torts' system gave dmen he would have been exposed badly. Stralman is now a story in 20/20 hindsight. Subbing out Stralman for Dan Boyle I think was the right move on paper at the time (we needed PP help and some O from our D), but we'd be in a much better position defensively if we had Stralman and Yandle rather than Boyle and Yandle. I still dont mind D.Boyle, but with Yandle here there's really no reason to keep him around. Sather keeps saying they had their eye on Yandle for awhile...well if that was the case he should have pulled the trigger last offseason for him, and brought back Stralman at around Boyle's cap hit. Maybe with Stralman it was an issue of years rather than money. I dont think Staal and G's contracts are that bad. Jeff Petry just got 5.5m per. The only real bad contract on D right now is Boyle's, and that's only because Yandle has made him expendable. We'll see how this plays out. Like I said in another thread, there's speculation that Klein may be a cap casualty this offseason.
And the truth is Boyle's contract isn't really bad. Can a 1 year deal for 4.5 mill be real bad? Not IMO. And to say Klein hasn't been the same since the injury is a little strong. Makes it sound like he was back for 2 months or a year and hasn't been the same. The reality is he came back into a high pressure situation and wasn't as good. I'd expect next season he'll be right back to peak level at the start. And the contracts given to Staal and Girardi were the exact opposite of ridiculous actually...unless you want Petry for the same amount or Orpik for the same amount.
i have a thing for players who do their jobs consistently, and i guess u really can't argue the contracts of staal and girardi, the hawks are probably gonna win another cup with illdoya and rozival ...
