Reggie Fowler is saying all the right things....

    - He said that Moss will not be traded
    - Coaches will get long term contracts for security sake
    - A stadium 'could' be done through private funding

Let's just hope that he's not just creating another resume special.

Havent we already tried this? It Failed very badly. What makes him think that he could do a better job than Red for private funding? I don't think that it is going to work.

I don't see why private funding is so difficult, if done correctly. The trick to it is to build more than a stadium, but build more than that. Imagine having a stadium, and adjacent to it something like Block E in Minneapolis (for those of you who don't know what that is, its a new development with lots of new trendy restraunts, a nice hotel, a Gameworks, all right next to the Target Center).

The plan would be quite simple. 1. Build a stadium, reap the benefits of ticket prices, suites, concessions, merchandising, etc. 2. Build complexes adjacent to the stadium to attract restraunts, shopping, entertainment, hotels, etc. Set it up to cater towards providing entertainment before and after games. You could even setup a specialized parking lot for tailgating complete with a stage for concerts (like the old Vikings had). 3. Any stores that move in must agree to a contract similar to those that occupy the mall of america...flat rate rent plus a portion of sales.

The only reason a private stadium didn't work is because other cities have been willing to publicly fund stadiums. That is still the better option. Private funding is possible, just not as favorable.
