I designate southern California for the locusts swarms. We'll take the raining blood. It will at least help with the forest fires.
"Science" alarmisms: 1) Global Warming (fire and brimstone) 2) Asteroid extinction level event (fire and brimstone) 3) Aliens will kill us all, should we meet any (and if they exist) 4) Artificial Intelligence tipping point (skynet!) 5) Global Warming (biblical floods) 6) Global nuclear war (fire and brimstone) 7) Bioengineered disaster (e.g. some virus kills us all, especially a genetically engineered one) 8) Solar storms (fire and brimstone) 9) Super volcanoes (fire and brimstone) Those just off the top of my head. We must destroy our civilization to avoid many of these things. That's what we're told. At least provide plenty of funding for research so the "scientists" don't go hungry.
