Top Trump administration officials will hold a rare briefing on Wednesday at the White House for the entire U.S. Senate on the situation in North Korea.

All 100 senators have been asked to the White House for the briefing by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said White House spokesman Sean Spicer on Monday.

While administration officials routinely travel to Capitol Hill to address members of Congress on foreign policy matters, it is unusual for the entire Senate to go to the White House, and for all four of those officials to be involved.

I've obtained a copy of the briefing the senators will receive:

"Thanks for coming. They said it was impossible for a Republican to win the Electoral College, but I won by the biggest margin ever. If I ever invite you to Mar-a-Lago, which is unlikely since most of you didn't vote for me, you should try the chocolate cake, it's the best. Even the guy from Jina thought it was great.

Oh, and I nuked North Korea just now. Everybody says it will be the best mushroom cloud ever. Believe me."

Shouldn't be too difficult. I think China has had enough of sticking their neck out for Fat Boy. Russia isn't going to like it though because they have NK prison camps in their country. But I also can't see Putin putting his neck on the line for a little tinpot dictator.

Then again....he supports Assad.....so I suppose anything is possible.

But make no mistake: our better technology and air superiority will be what wins a war with NK. This isn't the 50s anymore; there is a half-century gap in war-fighting capability that will be of great benefit to us. I think the whole "bigger numbers in manpower" issue is grossly overblown. No NK soldier fighting today has seen a cruise missile obliterate their post. That is going to have a huge psychological impact on them that will also benefit us greatly.

The average NK soldier is also grossly undersized, malnourished, and uncoordinated. All they have is fanatical dedication.....or do they? Even the dumbest NK soldier has to know how bad his leader is. Would they even stay and fight?

Regardless whether or not they do....fanaticism alone isn't nearly enough to defeat the might of a NATO military operation. And even if the US goes it alone, I can't see NK winning this war in the long run.

In my opinion, the only danger that NK poses is to our allies in the region. But the North's capability to launch scuds at their neighbors can be dealt with in short order. Yes, NK will get off scuds....but once our air-power comes into play, it's game over for them.

So, what option does NK have?

If they are fanatical enough, I can see them attempting a ground invasion of SK. I admit....that will be interesting. But I don't think they can sustain such an operation without their military complex.....and I think the US would all but wipe out their military complex (leadership, bases, mobile ground vehicles, etc) in a couple of months; if that.

If we go to war, it will be a MAJOR test of not just our air superiority, but also of our military technology as well. In my opinion, technology will be the deciding factor of such a war.

    Lol

It goes like this, we shoot a missle up jongs ass, offer them food, and they surrender. If not, we start the robot laser army shit. Done deal in a week, tops.

But then we will have one less boogeyman in the world to scare chickenshit idiots into continued MIC spending. So pretty sure the pentagon doesn't want to do it.

Trump is the wild card. He wants to make a splash and give himself a pat on the back. So he is going to murder some people. Let's hope he doesn't kill a bunch of Americans while he's at it.

LOL. This is such a typical Leftist response. How do you figure Trump is going to murder some people?

Makes me wonder what you think of guys like Aaron Hernandez and Ted Bundy. In case you haven't noticed, PUTIN is the guy who is ACTUALLY having people murdered.

You know who else does that? Kim Jong Un.

Christ. It makes me wonder if there is ANY Leftist on this entire forum who can give a structured, reasoned response without a bunch of bullshit far-left rhetoric and triggered emotions.

I DON'T think NK is a threat to the US. But they are a clear threat to that region; of which we have allies and trading partners there. And it's becoming more obvious by the day that something needs to be done.

China isn't going to do it. Russia isn't going to do it. Europe alone doesn't have the capacity, not to mention the spine, to do it. So.....

By all means....if anyone else has a reasonable answer on how to deal with NK, then please speak up.

Oh no...clearly, lol. The Left is all about emotional stability, lmao.

China will not allow us to attack NK, they don't want to have any chance of a back door opening. It's enough the U.S. has bases on the lower penensula

I wouldn't say that NK is no threat. They have nukes, and will have a lot of nukes. They're working on ICBMs, which will reach the continental US - that's just a matter of time.

I do not at all advocate going to war with NK, though diplomacy has failed and NK has violated every agreement they've signed.

Everything I've read and heard over the past several years is that NK wants a one-on-one negotiation with the US, but we've refused and demanded a multi-party negotiation. I don't see the harm in the one-on-one meetings.

The diplomatic solution has to involve China, and Trump has made some progress on that front.

Trump met with Xi. Shortly after:

I've thought about that myself. I don't know if they really put that much stock in to old thought processes like that. The world has pretty much moved past Cold War mentalities. I would like to think that the leadership of China is at least smart enough to look past that nonsense and see the reality of the situation in today's world.

I mean, you kind of have to ask "who does China want as their neighbor?"

    A) A stable trading partner with good economic and political ties

    B) A completely crazy and volatile dictator who starves his populace and has no friends

I think China is more than capable of coexisting with a peaceful and re-united Korea. And I would like to think that China has had it with unstable nutbags at their border.

Both of these are good answers. Personally, I disagree that we should engage in one-on-one negotiations with NK. For the same reason I don't think we should have one-on-one negotiations with ANY isolated hermit kingdoms. They are isolated and despot for a reason.

The way you make peace with your enemies is to talk to your enemies.

It's a lesson Reagan had already learned and one that our leaders need to re-learn.

You and I agree on many things, Denny...but I'm afraid this is not going to be one of them.

In my opinion, Un has demonstrated his complete lack of ability to coexist with anyone in the civilized world. And it's kind of hard for the US to have any kind of credibility as the beacon of hope and freedom if they are engaging in negotiations with a country as extreme as North Korea.

Here are some fun facts about NK and the USA.

We've never tried to negotiate a peace treaty with NK, only an armistice.

An official cease fire has never been signed.

There has never been a time when NK is not under some sort of US sanctions.

The USA was the first to break the terms of the armistice 3 years after signing it when it placed nukes in SK.

NK asked Russia and China for help in developing a nuke program.

    They refused.

Our "ally" Pakistan is the one who sold them the Nukes for crazy dummies DIY book.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agreed_Framework

The Agreed Framework between the United States of America and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was signed on October 21, 1994 between North Korea (DPRK) and the United States. The objective of the agreement was the freezing and replacement of North Korea's indigenous nuclear power plant program with more nuclear proliferation resistant light water reactor power plants, and the step-by-step normalization of relations between the U.S. and the DPRK. Implementation of the agreement was troubled from the start, but its key elements were being implemented until it effectively broke down in 2003.

Trump isn't going to war with North Korea. But I do expect that they will not put a weapon on a missile that could be a future threat. Resolution time has arrived, can't punt this time.
Trump has properties in South Korea you know, maybe within range of NK artillery.
