Eredivisie Round-Up: PSV, Heracles Win

Dutch champions PSV defeated relegation candidates De Graafschap 3-0, while Vitesse and Wille II drew in Arnhem. Furthermore, Heracles won the home match against Roda.

Vitesse were close to recording their first victory of the season, but Willem II grabbed a late equaliser to go home with a point.

The Arnhem side started the better side of the two and created several chances to open the scoring. However, Willem II goalie Maikel Aerts saved all the attempts to score.

Mehmet Akgun made things even worse for the Arnhem side when he gifted Willem II the lead after sixteen minutes. Ibrahim Kargbo’s throw in was headed through by Danny Schenkel and Akgun had no trouble finding the net.

Vitesse fought back after the break and Ricky van Wolfswinkel equalised shortly after the break. The youngster took advantage of Veloso’s mistake and his left footed shot ended up in the top corner.

The Arnhem side kep dominating the match and Willem II defender Jens Janse was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the 51st minute.

Nicky Hofs gifted his side the lead in the 56th minte after a corner and it looked like his goal would hand the Arnhem side the first victory of the season..

However, Willem II grabbed a point in the injury time when top scorer Frank Demouge scored his sixth goal of the season.

PSV 3-0 De Graafschap

The Eindhoven side were happy with the return of playmaker Ibrahim Afellay and cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory.

The Eindhoven side created several chances to open the score, while Geert den Ouden caused some dangerous situations for De Superboeren.

However, it was the Eindhoven side that opened the scoring. Danko Lazovic had no trouble finding the net after Nordin Amrabat’s cross in the 15th minute.

The Serbian striker doubled his tally only minutes after the break. Dirk Marcellis set up Nordin Amrabat with a beautiful long ball and the tricky winger gifted Lazovic the perfect opportunity to score the 2-0.

Gifted playmaker Ibrahim Afellay capped a one-two with Danny Koevermans with PSV’s third goal of the evening with ten more minutes to go ans sealed the win for the Eindhoven side.

Heracles 2-0 Roda

Heracles kept their unbeaten status in the home match against Roda, causing the Limburg side even more trouble.

Heracles were the better side of the two before the break, but were unable to create any big chances, as were Roda.

Roda started brightly in the second half and defender Jan Paul Saeijs was close to opening the scoring for Raymond Atteveld’s side. Nevertheless, Heracles goalie Pieckenhagen saved his weak attempt.

Heracles grabbed the lead on the hourmark after a quick counter attack. Winger Willy Overtoom had all the space to go one on one with Roda keeper Bram Castro and opened the score.

Vojtech Schulmeister decided the match in the 90th minute. The substitute capped his official debut with a goal to gift Heracles yet another home victory.

Another PSV win. Every time I watched the Dutch League on Setanta, it was boring, but here I see 2-2's, 3-0's...
