Apparently he has an injured ego. Will be interesting to see if Kapono cracks the rotation.

apparently his achilles was hurt and so was his arm or something, and silas believes that may be the cause of his recent shooting struggles

nailon will remain in the starting lineup

Even if there was no problem with his shooting arm, I'd come out and say there was, so his ineptness had a reason. The only problem with Nailon starting is his defense. He like the others in our back court see to play matadoor style D. Anyway his offense has been much needed.

Good to see that Kapono will get another chance to play before the season is over. We really need his shooting. We have been getting blown out by 20+ pts and him sitting on IR definatly hurt.

oh here's some more info, this is from the cavs website:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On the status of Eric Williams:
Paul Silas:Eric will be out a couple more games. (bruised right wrist) I don't know if he'll travel with us. It's not really that important to me. Just getting him healthy is what's most important. </div>

on the radio silas affirmed eric's value to the team in the other areas of the game besides offense and said he really wants for the potential playoff run to get a healthy ewill who can produce some solid points along with the other aspects of the game he already performs well in.

other comments from silas included him repeating his desire for a "big-time" sf as an offseason acquisition, or if the right 2 guy came along lbj would move to the 3, and he believes such a lineup with mcinnis, boozer, and ilgauskas could make a serious dent in the playoffs. he also said the reason kedrick saw small minutes vs san antonio was because he felt kedrick didn't have the intensity that made him so impressive vs new jersey - as if the initial game time minutes gave kedrick an adrenaline boost that didn't last once he got too comfortable and laid back... however according to silas, brown was absolutely on fire in practice today so he's looking for a good game from him vs milwaukee. silas is also impressed with cleaves - his pushing, handling, and passing of the ball were great and he's playing hard defense, really the only flaw in his game silas pointed out was his shooting, and he's confident that he can help cleaves with his shot much as he did boozer's during training camp and over the course of the season... kapono's activation may not necessarily mean substantial minutes for him - silas said kapono is probably one of if not the best set shooter he's ever seen, the problem is he's still a rookie and a bit slow of foot so they're working on quickening his shooting release a bit... silas stressed that he's a very instrumental part of the team's plans for the future though, since he can really stretch the defense and is an extremely dangerous long-range threat, which the team is sorely lacking... finally mcinnis at practice today was shooting well and hitting the 3s, things aren't as smooth as before the injury but progress is promising, silas really misses the tempo of game mcinnis brings to the cavs and his defense and aggressiveness off picks - he actually said he never knew mcinnis was this good a basketball player, he does all the little things great point guards do and makes the big men happy by passing and re-passing the ball inside so often, and he's really developed a great chemistry with lebron... they're looking to hopefully get him back soon and hopefully his return and legitimate shooting threat will provide a lift to the team during this deciding stretch before the playoffs

We all remember that Hornets game where he brought us back from 20+ with his shooting. I realise this wont happen often, but to deny that oppotunity by sitting him on the IL was stupid. There are situations very regulary where Kapono could have been utilised. Now its up to Coach Silas to play him when the oppotunity arises.

Great post insshc, it's not so much I care that Kapono gets the minutes, It's his ability to cut major deficits during a blowout just like Karma explained. If we had him during our blowouts he would have been key.

I have to agree with you there, in fact it seems every game during our losing streak we could've really used a long-range threat and/or hot shooting scorer, especially since we've faced some fairly weak defensive teams that have been nailing their thress against us

Thanks for the info inhscc. I did hear earlier today that E Will would miss a couple of games. he obviously has had some problem. It looks like the Cavs might try to look at some young players to end the season. I hope that's the case. They need to find out exactly what they have with some of their younger players to help figure out their offseason moves.

Cleaves has played pretty well. He seems lighter and quicker than he was the last 2 years. His poor shooting doesn't provide help where we need it though. He has looked much better than Ollie has looked most of the season. I'd be all for bringing Cleaves back next year and trying to move Ollie as part of some trade.

I'd prefer the Cavs adding a quality SG and moving Lebron to SF rather than adding the SF and keeping LBJ at SG. I think his skills, his game, and his body fit much better at SF. He has trouble defending opposing guards and would have much better matchups at SF.

LeBron will eventually merge to SF. Your right he tends to get beat off the dribble from opposing SG's. He is just too big for that position.

With my ongoing persuit of Stepho Jackson, I was thinking if he is capable of defeding 2-guards. He was a solid defender at the Spurs and would have D'd up some guards, as generally Bowen marked up on the opposition premier wing player. So maybe S-JAX and LBJ could co-exist as a steady defensive pairing if Jacked was recruited.

I'm hearing you all though. James's game is definately suited better against small forwards. It would be a bit stupid no to play to our futures strengths.

Williams really played himself out of a contract with the Cavs for next year in my opinion. He was valuable up until about a month and a half ago, in which he began to tank. He is almost always in foul trouble now and his shooting percentages are at the bottom of the league. He is a good leader and I would like to have his personality around, but unforutately, those virtues don't put points on the board and that is what the Cavs really need at the small forward position.

EWill is going to be a Celtic next year I bet. He seems to drool everytime Boston is mentioned in his interviews.
