The Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues pulled off a blockbuster deal early Saturday morning, shaking the core of their teams with the most important trade so far this season. The Blues sent former No. 1 overall pick Erik Johnson, forward Jay McClement and a first-round pick to the Avalanche for winger Chris Stewart, defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk and a second-round draft choice.
