    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It was typical Duane Erwin.

    The loose ball.

    The diving, sprawled-out Erwin.

The screech of the former Tiger's knees and elbows sliding against the hardwood Thursday.

"I'm going to do all the little things that nobody else is out there doing. That's what's going to keep me out on the floor," said Erwin, one of 13 players to make the Grizzlies' Summer Pro-Am League roster cut Thursday.

The Grizzlies wrapped up their three-day minicamp at FedExForum on Thursday by cutting centers Randy Orr (Ga. Perimeter '04) and Roderick Riley (Prairie View '04) before boarding an afternoon flight to Long Beach, Calif., where they'll play seven games in 13 days starting with tonight's 9:30 (CDT) contest against the Los Angeles Lakers.

For the undrafted Erwin, it's the opportunity of a lifetime.

It's his chance to show doubters that a hustling 6-9 forward who averaged a modest 7.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as a senior at Memphis last season can find a home in the NBA.

"(Griz draft picks Hakim Warrick and Lawrence Roberts) already have theirs. They're already on the team," Erwin said. "I'm like a caged animal. They don't know what I'm feeling right now.

"I have to fight to survive, so I'll have to come at them hard." </div>

This pickup is the biggest joke in franchise history and is obviously a move to just draw more support from the University of Memphis fan base. At least there's a 99.9% chance that Erwin won't make the roster.
