Oh wait...

February 16, Detroit News: So, Bly was told he and his agent, Kennard McGuire, could work out a trade. Otherwise, expect to be released. "I wouldn't mind staying, but it's not like it's my decision," Bly told The Detroit News on Wednesday. "They're going in a different direction and I don't want to be a part of something, be here, if I'm not in the plans. <u>"I respect them for telling me."</u> According to the Nashville City Paper, Bly is interested in moving to the Titans. February 16, Nashville City Paper: The Tennessee Titans are likely in the market for another cornerback to play opposite Adam "Pacman" Jones, and Bly, who is regarded primarily as a man-to-man cover corner would be a good fit in Tennessee, says McGuire. New England's Asante Samuel and Buffalo's Nate Clements are regarded as the top free agents on the market, but their price tag would be considerably higher than Bly, who is scheduled to make $4.2 million in 2007, the final year of his current deal with the Lions. "I think he would be a perfect fit in Tennessee," McGuire said. "They have a great young corner over on the other side, and I think Dre' would be a great complement to him and a good influence."

Helps bly too, since his trade value is better if he isnt seen as malcontent. Pretty clear that he demanded out though.
I have heard of Mutiny on the Bounty, but... Is Bly leaving part of the part of the Chrysler "restructuring"?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pack Attack)</div><div class='quotemain'>Pretty clear that he demanded out though.</div> I'm not seeing it that way at all. It's pretty clear to me Marinelli does not want to pay 5 million per year in cap space for somebody who doesn't play the run up to his standards in the cover two. Was Bly unhappy with Marinelli's hard ass ways? Maybe. Would that effect how Bly played the run? Maybe Sounds like there's a lot of interest and it looks like the Lions will get something for a guy they signed as a Free Agent. I like Bly and wish him the best in Denver. He played some good football in Detroit. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">Broncos eyeing Bly</span> The Broncos are talking to Detroit about cornerback Dre' Bly. The Broncos are among about a half-dozen teams discussing a deal with the Lions. The trading period opens Friday. The Lions are likely looking for a third-round pick and a player or players. Among the players Denver would be open to trading are quarterback Jake Plummer, right tackle George Foster and running back Tatum Bell. Bly is represented by Kenard McGuire and Fletcher Smith, who are also agents for Javon Walker and with whom Denver worked to facilitate a trade last spring. Domonique Foxworth is tentatively slated to start alongside Champ Bailey. Bly would compete with Foxworth and give the Broncos one of the deepest units in the league.</div> http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_5311702
ESPN's Michael Smith says it's a done deal. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2784408 Looks like a pretty savvy move by Millen. Two potential starters and a 5th.

I think Denver clearly gets the better deal because Bly could thrive with Champ Bailey on the other side but the Lions help themselves as well picking up a starter at RT and an insurance to Kevin Jones.
I think the jury is still out on who got the better deal. Looks like the edge goes to the Lions early. George Foster was the 20th pick in the 1st round in 2003 and Bell was the 9th pick in the 2nd round in 2004 out of Oklahoma State. Seems to me our last RB from Oklahoma State panned out alright. Plus a 5th!
Yea im going with the lions here, get a starting caliber RT, and a Starting Caliber RB to compliment KJ or take over if he's not ready to go. Nice deal here!
Tatum Bell is a starting caliber running back? Bell has looked pretty average in an offense that has proven to make average running backs look good. Didn't the Lions already go this route with Orlandis Gary?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (FLORIDA PACKER)</div><div class='quotemain'>Isn't that kind of a contradicting statement?</div> Florida Packer, your signature suggests that Green Bay should be named the Fudge-packers, not the Packers. That is a very humiliating picture of Rex Grossman.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DolfanDale)</div><div class='quotemain'>Tatum Bell is a starting caliber running back?</div> Bell has very good speed (5 100+ yard games in "06") and a 4.9 yd per carry career average. I'm sure if you do some checking you'll see he's way above average in both areas. He's insurance for KJ and I'm pretty sure Mike Martz is salivating at the thought of having Bell's speed in his offense. I'd say Foster was the throw in. Joe Thomas is still the pick at #2, unless the Lions can trade down.
