The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent quarterback Cody Kirby, the club announced today.

A four year starter at Missouri State, Kirby (5-11, 200lbs) finished his collegiate career with 8,183 passing yards and 48 touchdowns passes. He was named top freshman in the Missouri Valley Conference in 2007, and was a three time All-Conference player.

Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says "we impressed enough with Cody during his workout two weeks ago at Ole Miss that he earned an invite to our mini-camp in Edmonton. His success at Missouri State is well documented and we're intrigued by his upside and potential. There is no doubt however that he has the arm strength to make every single throw on the wider and longer Canadian field".

The Eskimos open their 2011 training camp on Sunday, June 5th at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton.
