The Edmonton Eskimos have acquired Canadian corner back Delroy Clarke from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft, the club announced today. Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says, "Kavis and Rich both have experience coaching Delroy, and consummating this deal is something they are both very enthused about. The strong consensus is Delroy's athletic ability, combined with the signing of Donovan Alexander a few weeks ago, gives us tremendous ratio flexibility, including the ability to play with a Canadian cornerback, if the staff choses to do so." Appearing in eight games for the Double Blue in 2010, the Kingston, Jamaica native recorded four special teams tackles. Drafted by the Argos in the fourth round (29th overall) in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft, Clarke has appeared in 29 career games, mostly on special teams and backup defensive back. Prior to being drafted, Delroy played football with the Ottawa Gee Gees for three seasons. He ended his collegiate career with 34 defensive tackles and two interceptions in 16 games.
