    Editors don't exist anymore.

    It's copy, paste, and submit!

How did Word not catch that though? Did he write this in notepad?

TIL Kevin Arnovitz writes his articles on TextPad.

But other than that, it was a fun little article, but not anything we haven't heard before.

Some of the anecdotes were interesting. I especially liked the one about Harkless and Neil's relationship with Orlando.

Even worse than the typo is this glaring error:

"The Trail Blazers pursued Henderson at the deadline last season after Matthews was lost for the season with a ruptured Achilles, but ultimately landed Arron Afflalo."

Wes ruptured his achilles on 05-MAR, two weeks after the trade deadline (19-FEB). They weren't looking for a Wes injury replacement, they were looking for a 6th man.

Yeah, Neil has a great reputation and great relationships with many players, agents and other GMs around the league. He's kind of the anti-Pritchard in this regard. After the whole 2006 draft and the Pritchslapping of BOS, CHI, CHA and MIN in that draft, other GMs saw Pritchard as cocky and arrogant and nobody wanted to be his next victim. He burned bridges faster than he could build them.

We'll see if he corrects the error about the Afflalo trade.

Did anyone else find this sentence a little odd?

"The confluence of the Columbia and Willamette rivers can be found about a dozen miles north of the Moda Center, where a single waterway splits in two"

a single water way splits in two? Um...it's two waterways that converge into one.

The guy knows more about sports than geography...but then he did get the Henderson deal wrong.

Still, it's a nice positive Blazers piece, so I'm willing to cut him a little slack.

Yeah, the Willamette is a tributary of the Columbia. He probably looked at google maps and assumed the Willamette flows south. There aren't a lot of major rivers in North America that flow from south to north (the Yellowstone is another).

Yup, I saw that and I had the same thought as BNM. It sounded like he thought the Willamette runs south from the Columbia.

No mention of the Kanter and Monroe potential signings. I kinda have a feeling Neil wanted Plums as a backup regardless of what Aldridge did.

Does that mean we would get Barton back?

So what did he get wrong about the Afflalo trade?

He didn't foresee that Wes would rupture his Achilles, or that Afflalo would hurt his shoulder and wouldn't be effective.

Losing Barton sucks, but he needed playing time, and we have a ton of wings. We were also trying to make a playoff push. He and TRob were so raw and inconsistent at that point. Now Barton was a 6th man contender, and TRob was playing very well at the end of the season. Looking back, this will probably be a trade that we regret, but this is a perfect example of "hindsight is 20/20."

Edit - oh, I thought you were talking about Neil

He said Henderson (and Afflalo) were pursued at the deadline AFTER the Wesley Matthews injury:

"The Trail Blazers pursued Henderson at the deadline last season after Matthews was lost for the season with a ruptured Achilles, but ultimately landed Arron Afflalo."

Wes wasn't injured until two weeks after the deadline.
