Saw it on ESPN news a bit ago. Jim Gray has said that the Celts, Suns, and Wolves have a deal in place that (from what he made it sound like) depends on Marion signing a contract extension to stay with Boston past this year. He also said that rumors about Marion saying he didn't want to play in Boston aren't true because he hasn't heard anything about Marion saying such a thing. This is what he made the trade to be:

    PHX get: KG

    Bostons get: Marion

Wolves get: Fifth pick plus fillers to add up the money.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Phoenix Suns are discussing a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats for the No. 8 pick to get into the NBA draft lottery, multiple sources close to both organizations told ESPN.com Tuesday night.

Although Phoenix forward Shawn Marion can opt out of his contract at the end of next season, a source close to the Suns told ESPN.com that he is not part of a deal and is expected to stay put.

ESPN's Jim Gray is reporting, however, that Marion could be part of a three-way trade that would land Kevin Garnett in Phoenix. Marion would go to Boston and the Celtics would send the No. 5 pick in Thursday's draft and players to Minnesota.

The Suns source told ESPN.com that role players were involved in the proposed trade with the Bobcats, but at least one other team besides Phoenix and Charlotte is also involved, making the deal difficult to pull off. </div>

That would be weird, to have KG. I like marion but having some fresh blood and a different approach might work and at the very least it would be exciting.

That said, I'll believe it when I see KG in a suns uni and Marion decked out in the green and white.

NOW IT LOOKS LIKE ATLANTA IS IN

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yet an even bigger trade concept, ESPN.com has learned, was hatched Tuesday by the Wolves, in which Phoenix would likely be asked to trade away the player it has been trying not to trade, All-NBA center Amare Stoudemire, who would go to the Atlanta Hawks.</div>

I really don't know what Kerr is trying to accomplish getting Atlanta involved who would only want Amare. It looks as if they would be able to get this thing done by giving up Marion, why ship him off to Atlanta without getting anything back in return? IMO Amare's worth is just up there with KGs right now because of youth, the man just made first team all NBA for crying out loud a year after microfracture surgery. I don't like that turn with Atlanta at all.

*edit* also just saw another Suns fan post on another board: Why would we give ATL Amare when we have their pick next year? The Suns would basically be screwing their draft position basically if they were to do this. At least the ATL team as it is now has a greater risk of screwing up and leaving the Suns in a decent spot.
