What did you all think? I thought it was really good. Great job by 4 high profile athletes that a lot of people look up to, to get up on the stage and preach peace and love.

Also, the jacket Craig Sager had on last night, may have been an all time great. Roses and Leopards? Out(fucking)standing

It was well written and well spoken. But what are they going to do? Fixing the "distrust" will take decades. What solutions can be taken now?

I think the Police need to come up with a second option to incapacitate criminals. They need to carry guns for certain situations, but I would think they could come up with some new high powered tranquilizer gun. I realize the current ones have flaws, but you would think with all our technology over the years we could create a weapon that works a little better. Most of the recent events have been at close range, which should make it easier.

We just can't keep killing people we think might be bad. But on the other hand we can't send our police into situations where they can't defend themselves. I think better technology is the best answer, at least in the short term.

THIS is the reason I stopped watching the espys. The regressive left. First it was Caitlyn Jenner, now let's get these NBA players up here to keep talking about it. That's all that the media does. More talking, creating divide. No action. People are so misinformed, they just think police officers are out there to kill blacks forgetting these guys got families too. Yeah, there are racist cops but not as many as social media will tell you. To me, the greatest issue the black community should be worried about is the insane number at which blacks
Kill each other at and the insane number of violent crimes blacks commit. im not saying these killings are justified because some aren't but come on. This shit gets old. Maybe if people would just stop bringing race into every fucking conversation we could get somewhere. We have had a black president for 8 years yet people still say it's like the 60's. Look at all the people who protested in Portland a week ago, pretty much all white people. Fuck
    The espys

I think it takes communication. Having black athletes get up and speak about this is huge. Yes, the black people that were killed is a travesty, but so are the cops that were killed. It needs to be said, and they said it well.

On a slightly side note, the Dallas police chief, who is black, had a great speech
Dallas Police Department Chief David Brown wants protesters to know he’s got jobs for them.

“We’re hiring,” he told reporters Monday in response to a question about what advice he’d give young black men.

“Get off that protest line and put an application in, and we’ll put you in your neighborhood, and we will help you resolve some of the problems you’re protesting about.”

Better training. Police forces in other countries are trained to take down hostile - even armed - threats in non-lethal ways. But from the very beginning of American law enforcement it's been our lazy policy to shoot first and ask questions later. Any time a police officer discharges a weapon in a situation where a civilian life isn't directly at risk, that officer needs to be prosecuted. James Bond's "license to kill" is suppose to be fiction, but we've literally handed out 1 million+ actual licenses to kill to an under-educated and under-trained segment of society.

But the problem isn't just a police problem - the police are just the caboose on a long train of a problem.

Did you actually listen to the speech? Yeah, it's just words, but they spoke out in favor of the police and against retaliation. It didn't sound divisive to me at all.

I listened to it. Dwayne wade barely brings up black on black violence. It's the victim card the whole way

Police in other countries aren't dealing with the type of crazy we got here though. If I'm an officer with a family and somebody reaches for their gun, I'm pulling the trigger, I don't care what color you are. And if anybody in here thinks they would do otherwise in the situation, you're lying to yourself

Then people like you shouldn't be signing up to be police officers.
Never mind the fact that the vast majority of these slayings haven't involved the "suspect" reaching for a gun.

Also, never mind the fact that armed white guys are being treated with far more patience and taken away in cuffs rather than body bags. But yeah, let's forget that and instead focus on "black on black" crime.

Never said I was signing up to be one, you're just in denial my friend. Dude in Louisiana had a gun. Mike brown strong armed an Indian man in a convenience store and stole some shit right before the altercation with the cop, if that doesn't tell you about his character and ability to pull some bully type shit on a cop then I don't know what to think.

You say black on black crime like it's not real, that's cute. White people get killed by cops but guess what? The media has an agenda to create race wars and you are falling right into it.

I think a lot of people just ride the bandwagon. people these days love trendy shit. They love to think that they are the new civil rights movement. MLK is rolling over in his grave right now. HE actually fought for some shit. The people today just wanna find something to complain about and that's where these extremist groups like black lives matter are born. They claim they want conversation but if you disagree or have a different opinion or present a fact, you are an automatic racist. This is why I never really get in this conversation and go about my life. It's like going in circles.
