Former Dallas Cowboys player Eugene Lockhart Jr. was taken from court in handcuffs on Wednesday after violating terms of his release from jail pending a trial for mortgage fraud, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Lockhart was charged and released in September 2009 as being part of a $20 million mortgage fraud scam.

In July he was detained for failing a court-ordered drug test. He was ordered to report any further arrests, but he did not tell the court about an October arrest.

According to the Morning News, he and a woman, Cristy Dorothy, were arrested on suspicion of public intoxication after they were found in the back of his Cadillac Escalade in front of an Addison, Texas, office building at 3 a.m. CT on Oct. 10.

"He said he was trying to minister to her," an officer testified, according to the Morning News.
