<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> few weeks ago, Ben Gordon dismissed the possibility of getting another chance to crack the starting lineup. It appears his thinking was on target.

With Chris Duhon out because of a bone bruise on his right knee, a starting spot was left to fill Wednesday night. But coach Scott Skiles opted to use veteran Eric Piatkowski.
"I think Ben is better off the bench, and I'd rather keep him in that role," Skiles said.

Skiles used Gordon as a starter early in the exhibition season, but Gordon was ineffective. As a reserve, Gordon exhibits more confidence and has been much more productive.

    Worries

Skiles expressed concern that Duhon's injury, which he suffered in the season opener against Charlotte, could bother him for a lengthy period.

"[Trainer Fred Tedeschi] is concerned it could linger," Skiles said. "In the morning, he could barely bend it."

Duhon has had a rough time with injuries this season. In the preseason he had a groin injury and a mild concussion. The latter still gives him trouble with his neck.

Duhon's absence relegated him to the inactive list and made room for Jannero Pargo to play his first game. Malik Allen joined Duhon on the inactive list.

Heading into Wednesday's game, Duhon ranked fourth in the league in assists with 9.3 a game.</div>

Starting in the NBA is overrated. What does it really mean? It does not matter who starts it matters who finishes and Gordon is always there to finish. Also he may not start, but he still gets more playing time then the guy that does at the end of the day.

i use to think ben gordon should start this whole season but with his performance as a starter in the pre season he should just come off the bench for this season and next season too, it doesnt matter as long as he still can be the hero in 4th quarter

    Yeah, it certainly is overrated.

But people who start are often more respected because they are supposed to be the 5 best players, and the best player at your position.

He's second in MPG and scoring on the team. That's what matters. Unfortuantely his FG percentage is abysmal.

His numbers have been erratic he is shooting 33 from two point field goal range, and 43% from the arc. His numbers will be around 44% from the field at the end of the season though. It is to early to draw anything from his field goal percentage Kobe was shooting 50% now after the 76ers game he is shooting 46%.
