Really deep songs do that to me sometimes. Has it ever happened to you when you were so into a song you started getting emotional? Not necessarily crying, but real moved by the song? If so, what was it?

I have listened to a couple of songs that really touched and moved me, but I can't really remember all of them right off the bat. The one I do remember was "Running," with Tupac and Biggie. I'll see if I can remember some more.......

Sometimes, it depends on the song, and how deep it can pull me in. "Betrayal" by Gang Starr & Scarface <u>almost</u> brought me to tears once, I dont even know why. Thats when you know a song is good.

"Moment Of Truth" by Gang Starr is another real deep song to me, basically that whole album is.

If the only songs that had you emotional were rap songs, then you seriously need to open yourself up to other genres out there.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post">Also, Killing Me Softly by the Fugees gives me goosebumps, don't ask me why...</div>
You're not alone my friend. Lauryn Hill's rendition of it at the end of Chappelle's Block party gave me goosebumps too.

EDIT: I forgot to answer the question. Besides the song I just mentioned, I can't really think of just one song that does it for me. I guess a recent one I just heard would be:
Nelly Furtado - What I Wanted (from her new album)

    Killah Priest - Theme Song

    Nas - Undying Love

Herbie Hancock - Bo Ba Be Da

Those songs put life in perspective for me.

Dance by Nas got me real emotional, those are hard lyrics.

My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion
    Dance - Lee Ann Womack
Because You Loved Me - Lee Ann Womack
Who You'd Be Today - Kenny Chesney
One More Day - Diamond Rio
Please Remember Me - Tim McGraw

All of these songs were played at my grandmother's wake. She recently passed. Whenever I hear them, I get really choked up. Especially if I have nothing going on around me, my mind reminisces and it's just blah.

At my graduation, a girl sang Dance, they're just really tough to hear.

What would music be if it didn't inspire emotion? Of course I've gotten emotional during songs, but there's too many to list really, so here's just the ones that I can think of which make me the most emotional -

"Smile From The Streets You Hold" and "With No More" by John Frusciante - These come from an era in which he was struggling against an addiction to heroin, among other things, and had practically dropped off the face of the earth, especially out of the public eye but also isolating himself from all of his friends and loved ones. The pain and raw emotional in his vocals really give the songs wings. Musically, there's not much merit to either one, but it's hard to listen to them knowing where he was coming from and not be tremendously moved.

"If I Aint Got U", "U Don't Know My Name", and "Diary" by Alicia Keys - I don't really need to explain in-depth why these are emotional songs for me, because they're intentionally emotional songs and lyrically tend to cover relationships, an emotional issue.

"Playground Love" and most other songs by Air - This song, as well as most of their entire collection, is romantic by nature. The melodies in "Playground Love" are particularly haunting though, and when paired with the visuals of the movie The Virgin Suicides, from which the song was done, it becomes even more powerful.

"1979", "Tonight, Tonight", and "Today" by the Smashing Pumpkins - These songs just embody high school and all of its positive memories to me, both because of the fact that I listened to them like crazy in high school but also because of their lyrical content, which really bring me back to the more innocent times in my life.

"Black" by Pearl Jam - 'I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why. Why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine?' Those lyrics really sum up the mood of the song. It's a song that, at least from my own interpretation, is about loving someone who can't love you back, a very emotionally painful subject that I'm sure a lot of us have had to deal with at some point in our lives.

"This Is The Place", "Dosed", "Midnight", "Venice Queen", and "Warm Tape" by Red Hot Chili Peppers - Really all of their songs tend to inspire some sort of strong emotional response from me, but these songs from their album By The Way have always had a special place with me because of their dark melodies, their powerful vocal harmonies, and the poetic lyric content.

"You're All I Need To Get By" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell - Both Marvin and Tammi have particularly emotional vocals on this track, and the rhythm, as often described, is arranged in a very ominous way that adds another dimension to this song's emotional content.

Uh, when I was 13, I manned up to ask the girl I liked for a while to a dance (last dance of a middle school)...the song was all my life by KC and Jojo. Don't ask why.

And the song My Problem (Jealousy) by Juelz Santana, listened to it often in awkward situation.
