<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Undrafted but undaunted, Florida underclassman Matt Walsh wound up with the NBA team he wanted all along.

Walsh and the Miami Heat reached a preliminary agreement on a two-year contract Tuesday, giving the 6-foot-6 guard some security and leverage heading into the team's preseason camp this fall.

Walsh's agent, Jason Levien, did not disclose terms of the deal, though it is expected to be similar to a two-year, $1.1 million deal that former Gator Udonis Haslem signed with the Heat as a free agent two years ago.
Both sides are expected to finalize terms today.

"It makes it satisfying, because it's been my first choice since the beginning," Walsh said. "Obviously, after not being drafted, I was disappointed. But in the end it turned out to be a good fit."

Walsh and the Heat came to terms shortly before he was to board a plane to Salt Lake City to head for the summer league camp of the Seattle SuperSonics. Instead Walsh will remain with the Heat's summer league team in Long Beach, Calif., through July 20 then return to Miami to prepare for training camp in September.</div>
