"Jarvis Green has continued training in the offseason, keeping his weight up around 280 pounds. He's just not sure it will be necessary.

Green, the 32-year-old who played eight seasons with the Patriots [team stats], is considering retirement while his colleagues wait out the lockout. With the off-the-field options the defensive end has created for himself, a career after football may be just as enticing as a career in football.

"I'm kind of in between," Green told the Herald while at Blush Wine Bar for his charity wine tasting. "I'm still thinking about hanging it up. I am staying in shape, but right now I've been very busy. I bought into this construction company about a year ago in Baton Rouge, and maybe the best decision for me right now is to go do construction. It's really valuable, it's a great company. But then again, playing a few more years would be great."

Green is understandably conflicted. His career has included two Super Bowl titles with the Patriots as a key reserve. He spent parts of 2010 in Denver and Houston, though neither was an extended stay.

He called his time with the Broncos, who cut him after training camp, "a bad situation," adding, "Sometimes, life throws a curveball at you." But if the Texans wanted him back, he'd think about returning to the place he ended his season."
