Get ready for the inevitable. Despite having 21 games to go, it would take a little less than a miracle to make the playoffs with the way the Nets are playing. What can we expect? We lose to teams that are at the bottom of the barrel. And we get wiped out by the top teams. We went all the way from being contenders to the gutters. Even if by some miraculous run and we make the playoffs, Detroit will be waiting with a big smile. One word: DISAPPOINTMENT!

First off, I think that instead of making all these threads about the same thing, someone should just make a thread about the final 20 games of the season (excluding preview threads, obviously), where anyone can rant, complain, discuss the game or what is going to happen with the team. That would be much more comfortable.

Anyway, I agree with you that this season has been a huge dissapointment. I don't think the 7th seed or even the 6th seed are impossible to reach right now, but obviously we aren't good enough to do something in the playoffs. I don't think that the difference between the 12th and 15th pick in the draft (probably one of those picks will be ours) so it doesn't make much difference whether we make the playoffs or not. Hopefully, we can build on the draft, sign a good free agent with our mid-level exception and bring everyone back for one last hurrah next season.

I hope we miss the playoffs. I rather try our shots at the lotto than face Detroit in the first round.

Just thinking about it...I don't know how much Kidd has left in him. He's had a bad back, cracked ribs, and disgruntled off court issues. I empathize that he's trying his all and you can see it on the court, but come playoff time I just don't want him nearly dying just to get to the playoffs.

Agreed but we all know, that if we do miss the playoffs, then Kidd is gone. I'm sure he will ask for a trade, and Thorn might finally deal him. After that, Vince will refuse to re-sign, so he's gone too.

Basically missing the playoffs would be the first step to rebuilding.

Like I said, making the playoffs or not doesn't make much of a difference to Thorn. Kidd has laid out everything on the table, despite injuries and everything else. I think Kidd will ask to be traded and Thorn will end up dealing him for a lot less. I think Vince will stay a Net, provided that he gets a good deal. The Nets may very well be the right place for him. With the possibility of Kidd leaving, Carter can have a team on his own again.

You act like he actually wants his own team. He wouldn't mind playing with another superstar, and being a second option.

He wouldn't mind playing with another star (too much). But I'd doubt he would play second fiddle.
