Well, I am one of the biggest Niner fans there is....But, I don't have high expectations for them. Offense: Alex Smith looked good at times and other times just plain ugly and lost.... Vernon Davis is gonna be overrated in my opinion....I know Marcedes Lewis was a better Tight End then him. If Eric Johnson can stay healthy we will have one of the best TE combos in the NFL. Antonio Bryant is a pretty good player but not sure he is a capable number one reciever. Arnaz Battle is another reciever who I have lots of respect for because the kid can do it all.He is quietly one of our best offensive weapons. O-Line...If only Jeremy Newberry could stay healthy for one freaking season..The guy is a beast at the Center position and would have teamed up with Allen,Jennings,Heitman,Bass, and Kwame Harris to make one of the best Offensive Lines in the NFL. Frank Gore is an explosive back and will prove to be all the player he was at U of M before injuries and more. The kid is a straight up player and will lead this team to some touchdowns. Defense: Derek Smith is one of the most underrated players in the NFL.This guy has had 9 straight 100 tackle seasons and is never talked about. He anchors this defense. Tony Parrish or TP-33 is one of the cornerstones of the defense. This is a guy who is a top 10 defensive back in the NFL.He is definately a top 10 safety. Bryant Young is quietly doing his normal business and continues to make offensive linemen look foolish. The defense has a lot of good talent but most of it is young talent. The linebacking core is always one of the best in the NFL but the defense typically gets burned by missed tackles or pass plays. Overall: I think this team is gonna mirror that of last years as they are young and inexperienced. They have some good veteran leadership but for the msot part they are still too young. Best they could hope for: 9-7, this is if it all goes to perfection. Likely: 5-11, they will lose a lot of close games and will put up a lot of fight and heart.

Well, I was happy to see the performance of the Offense. They did well through the air and on the ground.Gore proved the talent I was talking about with a great performance.I think it was exactly what I expected!Good run stopping and offense was pretty solid. But, the passing defense was not there at all like it was last year.

Battle and Bryant have proven to be formiddable targets! Gore has been the wrecking crew, I expected! Our defense has been getting burned but Derek Smith has 32 tackles, 24 of which have been solo.... Also, the young defense has been helped out by Manny Lawson's great play..They have been burned by the deep ball though... Overall, we are pretty much exactly as expected...We are a mediocre team and we will probably be around the -5,6,7 win mark... predictions for future games: L- San Diego BYE L- Chicago L- Minnesota W- Detroit L- Seattle W- St. Louis W- New Orleans W!!!!!- Green Bay L- Seattle W- Arizona L- Denver I think it is concievable that we win about 7 games on the season!
I doubt the 49ers beat the Saints or the Rams. You got some high hopes there, it's just too bad that your team won't be able to back up those hopes for ya. Best of luck though.

I'd like to see them beat some good teams and any team could have lost in the Katrina Bowl against the Saints that one night, the Falcons just got the short end of the stick on that one. However I do believe the Saints are a decent football team and are more than capable of beating the 49ers. As far as beating the Rams goes, I just don't think they will beat them twice this year but who knows anything can happen in the NFL.

Well how many games did we give away last year...at least 2 or 3 where we had a lead and our D gave it up. Its hard for me to rate Davis yet......some of you kats sound like the Phili fans when they booed McNabb upon gettin drafted. Or how Smith was bein called a bust after his first year(see Aikman 1-15 first year wit cowgirls) So if you know your football you know that there are too many variables, expected or unexpected, that mold players and a team to be able to write someone off as a bust so early in their career. So dont get caught up in the games 5 weeks from now and focus on the positives and negatives from the Chargers game today. I feel we are a legitamite 500 ballclub if things go moderately well.
