Let's face it, the top 4 in English football seems sealed until Doomsday. Last year's 5th place finishers have lost to Arsenal's reserves and were dismantled at their own park by Man Utd. Which means the obscene Champions League wealth is further concentrated in the oligarchs.

The amount of money that is being gorged by them is destroying the rest of the English League. Liverpool are set to receive investment worth 4 times as much as the whole of Aston Villa. A same division team.

It can't even be said that this is good for English football. It is positively harmful. The monies generated by 3/4 of these teams is going to go abroad. The link with local fans is being swamped by the bandwagoners who follow the latest fashion and will dump them as soon as Real Madrid start winning again. English players are squeezed out - the development of the likes of Wright-Phillips and Bridge destroyed by foreign money - and crowds are haemorrhaging across the country as people realize that the only hope is to sneak a UEFA Cup place. The big 4 are about as English as Dame Edna.

So maybe it is time to throw them out? If they want a Euroleague that much let them play Lyon or Werder for the right to be 8th best in Europe. That will please their loyal Singaporean or Floridian "supporters".

Meanwhile, we can get back in England to a proper title battle. This year would have seen Bolton, Pompey and surprise outfit Reading challenging for the crown. In recent years Spurs, Newcastle, Everton, Ipswich and others would have been chasing the title of Champions of England. It would be a lot closer as the teams would have similar resources to spend. It would not be effectively pressing a cheat button at Champ Manager to get unlimited funds. And maybe it would put off the property speculators et al who invest heavily to glom off next year's Sky money and have no interest in the health of English footy.

    Well, it's a thought...

If you got rid of them, and you ever won the title, how could you enjoy it knowing you're only really 5th best? Of course you will do well if you get rid of every team that's better than you!! Man U won the league in 1993 and hardly spent a penny. Granted, because of their success since then, it has generated money. But that goes for any club.

one quick comment, Arsenal have got here on their own back.. so it can be done, only Man united Liverpool and Chelsea have taken cash injections to help them on their way... there are a number of clubs who have the same if not more money than Arsenal, so blame it more on personnel.

Very true ! We need a wage cap , and a fairer share of Sky's revenue to all the clubs in the Prem as this is becoming a joke .
No doubt the top teams have got better but to the detriment of others , this is not sour grapes at all but a harsh reality , just look at the division from 20 years ago sure Liverpool won but the cups were closer as were all of the Leagues ! I know we can not go back to those days but we need the scales to be rebalanced !

Ok... and then a new set of teams get bigger from winning the EPL and getting into the Champions League, so you then expel them as well. Then do the same thing again in 10yrs then again until everyone has won the EPL and been in the Champions League and have no more league teams left. If you did it once you'd have to keep doing it, a silly suggestion.

Money is know going to destroy the Championship also!!! with the 30million quid the bottom club of the premiership gets, the other championship clubs won't be able to compete with them. Therefore the clubs that get promoted will be as easily predicted as the top four!!!

Ha so when a team gets better than you....get rid of them????
How much investment did Arsenal get? How much investment did Liverpool get up until now? what about teams like Spurs they spent the most apart from chelsea over the last few years. Newcastle, how much have they spent?
Dont blame the other teams because your team cant step up to the high standards of the prem. Awful comment.

    I completely agree Random.

i also think that if the 'top four' were to go into a 'euroleague' with other countries top teams e.g. Barca, Real madrid, Ac and Inter etc. then no one would really be that interested in the premiership, Serie A La Liga etc

That would be very interesting if that did happen and the best 20 teams from all leagues played each other
