<div class="quote_poster">Quoting :</div><div class="quote_post">Is penetration the key to beating the Kings? Just might be.

The Mavericks did it Christmas day, and the Sonics used the strategy perfectly in Wednesday's night thumping. They drove and dished all night, leaving the Kings flat-footed.

Of course, flat-footed has become a way of life for the otherwise crafty and talented duo of Vlade Divac and Brad Miller. Combine that with the fact the other Kings sometimes have trouble staying in front of defenders, and you've got a pretty good idea why this team is not exactly being touted as the new Purple People Eaters.
Athletic opponents probably will succeed if they continue to take the ball to the basket instead of trying to match the Kings on the outside.

Only Tony Massenburg, who plays like an enforcer for the Sopranos, seems to have any inclination to lay the lumber and battle all comers.

On the other plus side, the Kings play the passing lanes better than most teams in the league. And that covers a lot of deficiencies.</div>

I can agree to that. Christmas Day, though, they were shorthanded without Peja.

In any case, that's how people beat them last year. Their man to man defense is often lacking, with the possible exception of Doug Christie and Bobby Jackson when they play their best defense.
