Match the damn offer. F*%K Batum (his agent and Kahn) and his/their statements (real or false) about not wanting to play in Portland. And trade his ass if he doesn't come to play ball - or sit his ass down and let him rot....then trade him in a year. He's a chip. And if Minny is willing to pay him big bucks, other teams will follow suite and/or be willing to trade with us. We can score a top pick by trading him later - we won't have to "give him away for nothing" and/or take back a player or players that simply don't fit into the big plans of re-tooling by conceeding to an S&T with Minny now. Shit, tell Minny they can have Batum for Rubio! F*%K Minny. So after thinking on this for the past few days - I'm resolved to match him and tell him to come prepared to play like he's a $12 million dollar man. And let's get our coaching situation wrapped up for crying out loud. Finally, offer picks and cash to Indy to secure Hibbert. You gotta give Indy something to make them a tiny bit happy - so offer it up! Get it behind us and move ahead.
If i'm at the first game I won't boo Batum but i'll hold up a sign that says "Portland loves you Batum, but FUCK YOUR AGENT"
Wait till we play Minnesota. Boo Batum AND Roy. Two birds with one stone. I got an offer of $1.20, but the contract says I do all the work, so no dice.
We don't need to schedule when to boo. We will lose so many games that it will be continuous for all 41 home games.
This is how sad the NBA has truly gotten.... A player that has never been able to lead a team past perhaps a quarter at a time every fifth game feels offended that his team is only offering him sub 10 mill a year..... Gotta be honest! Fuck you Batum, grow a pair, bring it every night, than feel offended! If I was GM, he'd be gone yesterday, cause one thing I know is this guy will never have killer instinct NIGHTLY and that's the kind of money he's asking for "killer instinct money!"
If his agent gets him a 12 million contract, he deserves applause. He'll have jedi-mindtricked the Blazers into thinking Batum is worth more than 7 million, which is what his production would warrant. This guy will have pulled off a minor miracle.
Firing an agent in the middle of contract negotiations when your training for the Olympics and have no time to do it yourself or interview another agent seems more insane then keeping him. If he comes back to Portland and doesn't fire his agent ill be quiet annoyed.
"How dare you get me insanely overpaid!!! You're fired!!!" I just don't see that conversation happening.
It's been said, but I'll say it again: Nothwithstanding how much of a douche and an offense to our sensitive Blazers fan sensibilities as Batum's agent has been, if he gets Batum anything close to $12mil per why in the world would Batum fire him? He should give him a bonus and refer him to his friends.
I guess if Batum gets the contract he has "agreed" to with Minny then his agent has done one hell of a job, still pisses me off the way his agent got him that deal.
