<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You can start a hot debate by declaring the Wizards' Gilbert Arenas the fastest player in the NBA, as I did a little more than a week ago. The Spurs' Tony Parker, for one, might question your sanity, not to mention the Hornets' Speedy Claxton. And then there is the Bucks' T.J. Ford, whose spinal injury doesn't appear to have affected his quickness even a fraction of a step. There is not much debate when it comes to the relative shooting merits of Arenas and Parker. Arenas has the clear edge, which explains why he, not Parker, has been to the All-Star Game. Parker went back to basics this summer in an attempt to correct the flaws that have allowed defenders to play off him on the perimeter. He re-tooled his shot under the tutelage of the Spurs' new "shot doctor," Chip Engelland. Arenas was able to work this summer on the subtleties of his perimeter game, the "in-between" game, which is defined by Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld as "the two-dribble pull-up." His catch-and-shoot ability from 3-point range already was solid, but he spent lots of time on that, too. Arenas is the primary reason the Wizards go into their home game against the Clippers as one of only three teams that made it through the first week of the regular season without a loss. His scoring average of 26 points per game ranks ninth in the league. He and Wizards forward Antawn Jamison combine for a scoring average of 50 points per game, one of only three duos in the league at 50 or more. Parker (22.5) and Tim Duncan (20.5), average 43. </div> Source
You said fatest but I think we all knew what you meant. Keyon Dooling may not be the fastest player in the league but he is up there. He has great speed and quickness. Ford is another player who has these two explosive characteristics.

TJ Ford hands down. But Boykins, AI, and Claxton are all right there. How in the hell did Parker get on that list. He's fast, but nowhere near the fastest in the league.
Ford or AI, especially if you're talking about with the ball. Kidd would be up there, in my mind, but after the knee problems I'd take him off. Speedy Claxton has to be up there as well.
Leandro Barbosa has my vote. What gets me is that it doesn't look like he's moving that fast at first because of his long, loping strides, but then you realize he's beat everyone down the floor. Or, this season, he'll be at the arc and then laying it in, in the same second.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Earl Boykins and TJ Ford are faster than Parker.</div> Agree ... especially with the ball. TJ Ford gets my vote for fastest player in the NBA.
Is fastest the same as quickest? Cuz Parker I gotta say is the quickest top defenders can even get close to him b4 he zooms past.
Tony Parker is definitely quick no doubt, but also one guy is who is faster then lightening is Keyon Dooling. He in my opinion is the fastest, hes super quick I remember last season he got the ball on the onbounds and just took off lay up coast 2 coast and his defender was just lost, because Keyon went by him at an amazing speed.
They should definitely have a race at the All-Star break or something, similar to what the NFL does during the Pro Bowl with their skills competitions.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting openglfx:</div><div class="quote_post">How about Speedy Claxton and Sebastian Telfair?</div> I forgot about Telfair. He is very fast too. He runs well with the ball.
well from what i've seen as of late, TJ Ford has some quicks, but in all honesty, I do believe Lebron James is pretty fast himself. its not the fact of his speed, its the fact that his strides are so long, and he can handle the ball just as good as anybody in the league, i'd take lebron in a foot race. also keep in mind that in high school for St Vincent St Marys, lebron was a wide out and ran a clock 40 of 4.29
