<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Anyone fasted before? I"m doing a 3 day fast starting today through tuesday.</div>I obviously haven't...
I did before just to try it during the fasting month for Muslims. Over 2 or 3 years I tried about 5 times and I only succeeded twice. It's not really that hard since you eat a nice meal, or two before the sun comes up.
Why on earth would you want to do this? To do lose weight, or to prove to yourself are the only reasons I can think of. But I heard that you will gain it all back in time....One time when I was sick, and I threw up like 20 times, I lost about 5-10 pounds or so because I wouldnt eat that much, but I gained it back within a couple weeks.

They feel that if they don't focus on food and other worldy necessities and focus on religion it will bring them closer to their religion and will help grow their spirituality. I don't agree with it but that's what people think and I admire them for doing it.

I've never fasted before and probably don't have the courage or will to last more than one day. that water fasting sound aight though
Wow whatever religions require you to fast keep me out of that. What a stupid thing to do to your body.

What a stupid thing to do to your body.</div>I fast for a month every year - its not like I starve myself. I eat a big meal in the morning before the sun comes up - and eat when the sun comes down. and no its not a stupid thing to do to your body - the only way it could be bad for your body is if you over stress your body. You can function totally normal when your fasting. Also - the reason Muslim people fast a month is because:1. A month dedicated to getting closer to God through prayer - and fasting emphasizes things even further. 2. Its a way to humble ourselves and learn not to take the blessings of food and water for granted - so when we stop fasting we've learned to not over indulge ourselves with food. 3. Its a way to bring our pride down and experience only a fraction of the pain homeless people go through. My chuch, for example hosts big dinners for homeless people twice a week during this month. We also give tons of charity to the homeless during the month.4. Its a great way to learn self-discipline.So Yeah - the little sacrifice of not eating/drinking for some odd hours is worth it.

Fourth day you feel a little weak. By day five your body starts to adjust and by the end of it I was fine. I didn't feel hungry, then when I ate I just ate a little bit and was stuffed because your stomach shrinks. One of my dad's best friends fasted forty days and forty nights, no not Jesus.
