This was a hard decision for me but I'm gonna have to go with JT Snow who used to play for the Giants. From the time I was about 5 until I was 11 he was my idol. My dream used to be that I would end up being just like him and become a gold glove first baseman back when I was actually young enough to think I was good enough to be in the pros. He was actually even the reason I started liking the Sixers believe it or not lol. I was in like 3rd grade and I was reading the box scores for basketball and I saw one of the players on the Sixers had the last name Snow. I didn't know Eric Snow was black at the time and I thoguht he might be related to JT Snow so I decided I would start liking the Sixers which lead to Iverson becoming my faorite player. What about you guys?
In Wisconsin we live for Brett Favre. I watched the Packers religiously since I was a tiny little sh*t, and we won 10+ games every year, there's was nobody that came close to him for me. Obviously he's the tough guy, and his passion is what everyone likes about him. I've always had the Favre jersey, 90% of Wisconsinites would probably put down Brett Favre.
I was a big Steve McNair fan back when he played for the Titans. He was just such a great player. No matter how banged up he was, he always played his heart out. It sucked seeing him leave, but now we have Vince Young.
Greatest RB of all time. His attitude was amazing as well. No flash, taunting or anything like that. He did his buisiness on the field, and didn't strive for attention off of it. Him retiring early shows he didn't care for records at all, and played for the love of the game. I had a chance to meet and talk with him at a book signing. He's a real friendly guy who likes to talk. Usually at book signings the player just signs and says goodbye. Barry actually talked with you for a moment.
Barry Bonds. At this point, I don't even care if he had taken every steroid known to man, he still has the best swing in baseball and used to have one of the best arms and fielding ability. He is probably the greatest five-tool player to ever play the game, and he's a guy I'll be able to tell stories to my grandchildren about. The homerun chase going on right now means a lot to everyone who loves baseball, but it means even more when that guy is on your team. He may get a bad rap for being a jerk to the media, but you never see him complain. Even in today's game, he was boo'ed when he walked up to the plate, cheered when he hit the homeruns, and boo'ed when he went back to the dugout. It doesn't matter if you hate him or love him, you have to be in awe at what he's accomplishing right now. You can argue he's the greatest player to ever play the game, and I'm just glad I'm able to witness (in person as well) a player of his caliber who we won't see for long time...

It's close between McNabb and Chris Bosh. I've been a fan of McNabb since Chris was still in high school. I love/loved his athletic ability at the QB position, his gun for an arm, QB vision, and all of the exciting plays that he can bring to the table. His accuracy seemed to get better that year we got to the SB too, especially from deep. That year with T.O. was probably my favourite sports team ever...He is a very tough individual. I remember him playing through a fractured or broken leg one time...If he's not playing, you know it's a very serious injury, or else he's going to be out there performing. On the other hand, I am more of a basketball fan than a football fan. I started becoming a Raptors fan when Chris was a rookie with our team, and I remember him as the hardworking, athletic, skinny kid when he first arrived. Now he is so versatile, and exciting to watch. His shot is great for a power forward, he is athletic and quick as anything, he can now score inside, he's excellent at drawing fouls, his rebounding is great now, and he's getting better defensively. What more could I ask for? Once I see a few more seasons of Bosh, I'm sure he'll be my clear cut choice for this, but for right now it is kind of hard for me to decide.
Michael Jordan...a will to improve yourself to win is the most important characteristic for any athlete, and Jordan had it. People say he wasn't a good defender...he became the best defender in the league WHILE continuing to be the best on offense. He was shot down for his lack of a three-point shot- he improved it by bounds and showed people he could shoot from beyond the arc. Jordan had a will to win and did everything he could to achieve that, and because of this he is one of the greatest athletes ever in any sport.
Considering the fact that I don't even follow football or baseball nearly as half as much as I follow basketball, my favorite athlete for any sport is Caron Butler. Gilbert Arenas may be the face of the franchise, but Caron Butler is a leader on the team, a good all-around player, and is very active in the DC community. This man used to be a drug dealing teenager on the streets of Racine, Wisconsin, known for its crime and drug dealers. Caron Butler is my favorite athlete for any sport because seeing him come up from a bad childhood to the player he is today, excelling in the NBA, on and off the court is very inspiritational to many kids across America.
Derek Jeter is all time greatest player in all sports. He is a 7 time Allstar and has brought the yankees a bunch of Championchips. If the yankees did not have him I dont know where they would be right now.
Mine is probably Dwyane Wade, I love Alonzo Mourning and Dan marino too but I was too young when they were in their primes so I didn't really watch them much when they were at their best.
My favorite player not on a hometown team would be Steve McNair. I loved and still love to watch him play. Very tough player and a great QB when he was healthy. I don't really like Vince Young. Still waiting to see him use his arm. ;-)Hometown it's Steve Nash. Not much to hate from him. He plays his heart out and is a great teammate.
I usually have a favourite for every couple of years for each team. It would be near impossible to pick just one.Suns - Barkley, Nash, STATD-Backs - RandyLeeds - Hasselbaink, Bowyer, VidukaCardinals - Adrian Wilson, Aneas Williams, used to love Frank Sandersother sports - Tiger, Tyson, Sampras, Michael Johnson, Maurice Greene
All-Time in any sport is easy for me. Cal Ripken Jr. I idolized him when I was younger, especially with Little League, loved baseball, and the O's. Baltimore Orioles was like the closest for Delawareans to actually feel like they had a team. There are the full fledged Eagles fans who run amok in Delaware though.
Easy, and ya'll should know this.Tracy McGrady. He's probably the reason why I ever got into basketball. I've been watching this guy ever since I was 4-5 years old due to my brother loving the Raptors. My first game I watched TMac in, was when he put a nasty dunk right over Kornel David. After that, I've been hooked, following him everywhere, watching every game I can, looking at boxscores, and reading the play by play. He's my idol, and I'll always support him. It's been sad seeing him getting knocked out of the 1st round every year he's been in the playoffs, I really do hope that we go far next year in the playoffs.
