If he does retire I reserve the right to adjust my 5-11 prediction accordingly.

Da ... Wrong thead ... by the way, Favre's saying he still doesn't know what he's going to do. Give me a fucking break! He needs to make up his mind! He's becoming a real dickhead.

Why is he a dickhead? Because he's taking his time with a very tough decision. Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy screwed this up. They didn't give him a deadline so he has all the time in his world to make up his mind.

He's not hurting the Packers. Green Bay wasn't going to get any other Free Agents even if Favre said he was coming back before March. If he said he was going to retire before March, then maybe they'd get a veteren QB but that's really the only effect he would of had.

I guess you're right. It seems Thompson and McCarthy are resigned to another poor season with or without Favre. They'll pay him the big bucks to do a fairwell tour if he wants it ... but it seems they'd prefer if he'd retire.

That would explain the lack of signing any help so far during the F.A. period. Maybe Thompson is doing the right thing by not spending anything on the team to force Farve to retire and save the team a huge amount of money and start the next era and throw the 2nd year guy into the fire and see if he has what it takes.

If Favre comes back it will just prolong the the number of years in the cellar. If he would have retired this morning, I'd be willing to bet Thompson would have pulled out the checkbook Monday. But since Favre won't say ... Packer fans and Aaron Rodger will continue to pay.

    Could I be right?

personally i think this is getting a little ridiculous, just do something... stop holding press conferences about nothing just say I'm going to play or I'm not going to play. Yes i know this is a very tough decision but i mean what has he been thinking about, shouldnt he have his gut feeling already shouldnt he have made a list of the pros and cons. If he is really taking this long on this decision then he wants to play. IMO its getting stupid already i'm tired of hearing about Favre not knowing what hes doing.

I think you your right and wrong. If Brett would of retired this morning I don't think Thompson would of spent a lot of money. I think Thompson wants to build a team through the Draft not free agency. He wants to model the Pack after the Chargers not Dan Snyder's Redskins.

If Favre does come back I don't see the team making the playoffs. I have them going 6-10 with him. 7-9 at tops because of the schedule. Without him they drop to 4-12 in my opinion pending Rodgers development. What Favre is looking for is Thompson to show a sign that he wants to win now rather than rebuild. It's easy to say you want to win now but let see some action. I don't think Favre is going to get it. Maybe the Pack get a deal done with Charles Woodson or Ahmad Plummer but nothing to big.

I also think Thompson believes the reason why the team was 4-12 last year was because of injuries. Even with all the injuries they still were in most of the games they played in and then just lost it in the 4th quarter.

I don't mind building for the future. If TT can build a team for the future that can compete then I'm all for what he's doing but I think him and Brett need to get on the same page if there ever going to win now.

This is an interesting editorial from a Denver newspaper:
    http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/spor...4606379,00.html

The columnist proposes that the Packers trade Brett Favre and their #5 overall pick to Denver for Jake Plummer and Denver's two first round picks.

Probably never happen, but it sure would be interesting... [IMG]

You take the 2 QB's out of the equation and this trade is quite feasible IMO.

Is Plummer on a short rope/ w/ Shanahan?

He has no deadline though. So why is this Favre fault?? I'm not thrilled about him taking so long but this isn't all on Brett Favre. The management needs to step up and demand a deadline, something they haven't done and something they don't plan on doing.

Porky, im almost positive there was a deadline to start with.
if not, then Favre said that he would have a decision by a specific date, and he keepos pushing it back, thats why its getting me aggravated.

The packers need to set a deadline, and tell him to make a decsion by then or hes out.

The media has invented the deadline. Favre has been due a major roster bonus and the date keeps getting pushed back. What the media DOESN'T report, is that the roster bonus is contingent on Favre being in uniform, on the team in September. The deadline could pass at any time and Favre still doesn't have to decide because of the contingency...

Favre still talks to Ted Thompson and the coach every week. My guess? He's not going to decide until after the draft...

As of last year he was not beating much of anything, unless it was off the field.[IMG] I just don't think that with the team he has now he can be the same old Brett that everyone is used to. If he bases his opinion on that then I would say he is gone. I really don't even care if he comes or leaves anymore, it won't make that big of a difference in my opinion. Maybe he can get the INT record this year.[IMG]
