http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id...ary-stages-investigating-daily-fantasy-sports The U.S. Department of Justice and FBI are in the preliminary stage of an investigation into daily fantasy sports operators, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper, citing an anonymous source, reported Wednesday night that FBI agents from the Boston office have been contacting customers of daily fantasy operator DraftKings. The Department of Justice reportedly is looking into whether daily fantasy sports is a form of gambling. Daily fantasy operators have been persistent about it being a game of skill and point to language in the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 in regards to their legality.
I'm surprised the government let it go on this long. It is gambling, no doubt. I'm not opposed to gambling, if it makes people happy. It is not a game of skill. You and I can bet on who would win a footrace between the two of us. That's legal. You and I can't bet on a footrace between two other people. That is illegal.
I agree. It IS online gambling and if people can't play online poker then they shouldn't be able to do online fantasy football for money. Personally, I agree. Gambling shouldn't be illegal. I'm tired of the government trying to protect us from ourselves, but regardless of how I feel, based on the current laws I would say that it should be illegal.
