For the second game in a row, FC Dallas went blank -- and lost.

A 55th-minute penalty kick by Andres Mendoza and a stoppage-time goal (91st minute) by Eddie Gaven gave the Columbus Crew a 2-0 victory over FC Dallas on Friday night, keeping last season's Major League Soccer runner-up winless this season.

FC Dallas (0-2-1) has been shut out for 252 minutes since a goal in the 18th minute of its opener.

In addition, FC Dallas had to play short-handed most of the game for the second time this season when Jackson Goncalves was red-carded in the 33rd minute after two yellow cards in two minutes.

Mendoza struck for the Crew (1-1-1) after FCD defender George John knocked down Emmanuel Ekpo in the penalty area. The PK went under goalie Kevin Hartman's left arm.
