Well, this is it. 7 more days. I don't mean to seem ansy, but IMO if the Warriors don't make some sort of trade, they'll have a tough time getting into the playoffs. So, let's make this the official trade thread. It helps if you run the trade through RealGM or, ESPN has a new "Trade Machine" -- just plug in your players and see if the trade works! State your proposed trade in bold, and all comments in normal font. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine Here's a few but I'll add more later: Troy Murphy Derek Fisher for Joel Pryzbilla Darius Miles Viktor Khryapa Sergei Monia --------------------------------------------- If that's too many players, how about: Adonal Foyle Derek Fisher for Theo Ratliff ------------------------------------------------ I know Portland wants to trade Darius Miles. This one works under the books: Adonal Foyle Mickael Pietrus for Darius Miles Joel Pryzbilla --------------------------------------------- I just want a center. And I want to get rid of Foyle. I'll play around some more and see what comes up.
my current realistic dream trade : Outgoing Steve Blake 6-3 PG from Maryland 7.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 4.2 apg in 24.9 minutes Theo Ratliff 6-10 C from Wyoming 4.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 23.6 minutes Joel Przybilla 7-1 C from Minnesota 6.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.8 apg in 24.6 minutes Incoming Adonal Foyle 6-10 C from Colgate 4.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 24.0 minutes Derek Fisher 6-1 PG from Arkansas-Little Rock 12.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.3 apg in 28.4 minutes Calbert Cheaney 6-7 SG from Indiana 1.8 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 10.0 minutes Change in team outlook: -0.8 ppg, -4.5 rpg, and -1.3 apg. Golden State Trade Breakdown Outgoing Adonal Foyle 6-10 C from Colgate 4.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 24.0 minutes Derek Fisher 6-1 PG from Arkansas-Little Rock 12.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.3 apg in 28.4 minutes Calbert Cheaney 6-7 SG from Indiana 1.8 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 10.0 minutes Incoming Steve Blake 6-3 PG from Maryland 7.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 4.2 apg in 24.9 minutes Theo Ratliff 6-10 C from Wyoming 4.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 23.6 minutes Joel Przybilla 7-1 C from Minnesota 6.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.8 apg in 24.6 minutes Change in team outlook: +0.8 ppg, +4.5 rpg, and +1.3 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Portland and Golden State being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Portland and Golden State had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreemen
we get rid of our bad contracts and bad players In return we get two centers, ratliff will have a huge expiring contract next season with big value. Pryz who is a free agent so we can either resign or let walk and lost in the shuffle but very key is blake.... finally we have a competent back up point guard who can play D, distribute the ball, and play the point guard position competently.
The Warriors aren't getting Przybilla. Why would the Blazers trade a rising center like Przybilla for two old, overpaid veterans like Foyle and Derek Fisher? Golden State would need to really sweeten the deal with many draft picks for Portland to even consider biting.
I think we're in a catch 22. Bad teams do not want to take on salary to make room for cap and good teams do not want to take on salary because of future flexibility. Foyle + Fish = overpaid. Nobody wants it. It's why it's argued whether it was an error on Mullin's part to sign them for that much, or was it a necessity to sign somebody for that much to start somewhere. Mullin had poor leverage in signing free agents anyway, but damn he could have handled the team budget more wisely in case somebody better comes along. Now, it's like Mullin has cemented his moves and now we have to stick to the current investments. That's why we have to dangle draft picks and rookies...because nobody wants overpaid, old guys with no upside.
doubt that this would happen... Outgoing Adonal Foyle 6-10 C from Colgate 4.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 24.0 minutes Zarko Cabarkapa 6-11 PF from Serbia-Montenegro (Foreign) 3.5 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 8.6 minutes Incoming Jamaal Magloire 6-11 C from Kentucky 10.2 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 31.8 minutes Change in team outlook: +2.5 ppg, +2.5 rpg, and -0.2 apg.
or how great would this be?? haha, i dont think anybody wants a package of foyle and fish though...lol Outgoing Adonal Foyle 6-10 C from Colgate 4.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 24.0 minutes Derek Fisher 6-1 PG from Arkansas-Little Rock 12.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.3 apg in 28.4 minutes Incoming Zydrunas Ilgauskas 7-3 C from Lithuania (Foreign) 16.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.2 apg in 29.9 minutes Damon Jones 6-3 PG from Houston 7.5 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.9 apg in 26.6 minutes Change in team outlook: +7.3 ppg, +0.6 rpg, and -0.7 apg.
LOL if Mully pulled that off all the cavalier fans would be like That would be lovely though. _______________________________ I know they would never do this but I heard if they dont make it far into the playoffs that JO would go to Chicago. The big plus is we get rid of Fish and Foyles contract. So heres the trade: Golden State Warriors Incoming Players Jermaine O'Neal Salary: $16,440,000 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 20.9 REB: 9.8 AST: 2.3 PER: 21.31 Jeff Foster Salary: $5,000,000 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 5.7 REB: 7.9 AST: 0.6 PER: 15.03 Fred Jones Salary: $2,328,843 Years Remaining: 0 PTS: 10.0 REB: 2.4 AST: 2.3 PER: 11.78 Outgoing Players: Adonal Foyle, Derek Fisher, Jason Richardson, Troy Murphy Indiana Pacers Incoming Players Adonal Foyle Salary: $7,312,500 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 4.2 REB: 5.9 AST: 0.5 PER: 10.18 Derek Fisher Salary: $5,393,300 Years Remaining: 4 PTS: 12.0 REB: 2.5 AST: 3.3 PER: 15.20 Jason Richardson Salary: $8,888,888 Years Remaining: 5 PTS: 22.8 REB: 6.1 AST: 2.7 PER: 19.17 Troy Murphy Salary: $7,365,079 Years Remaining: 5 PTS: 15.9 REB: 9.5 AST: 1.3 PER: 16.82 Outgoing Players: Jermaine O'Neal, Jeff Foster, Fred Jones This Trade Succeeded! Go back to adjust your trade or start over. ____________________________ New team: PG: Bdiddy, Monta Ellis, (Miles?) SG: MP, Fred Jones, Calbert SF: Dunleavy, Cabarkapa, Calbert PF: Jermaine O'Neal, Ike, Taft C: Biedrins, Foster, Taft Do I smell playoffs?
On those Chicago rumors about Jermaine O'neil? Why trade him within the same conference and division? I think it's a bogus trade scenario. If Larry Bird is going crazy we should have convinced him that Dunleavy is better than Peja Stojakavic and gotten Ron Artest. BTW if Ike Diogu was the thing holding up the Ron Artest deal, then why not Diogu for Jermaine O'neil plus something? Also, people need to think about how many people would demand that ball and not even pass it. JO is one of those guys. I don't think he even shoots near 50% most of the time, so when he struggles, oh boy can he hurt the team. But man I'll take him, he does everything else well like rebound/block shots/defense. I'd trade Jrich for him most definitely if that was a deal.
We could do: Mickael Pietrus straight up for Joel Pryzbilla that works under the CBA, I would only like this trade if we cou;d find a second taker for FOyle, however. a tandem of Pryzbilla and Biedrins would be great, but only if Foyle was gone.
Then we lose a lot of scoring though, not to mention quickness + perimeter D. In terms of catch and shoot on the baseline, Pietrus has usually been pretty dead on too.
Yeah, don't get me wrong -- I'm big on Pietrus -- this trade would only be a good thing if we had already traded Foyle. A tandem of Pryzbilla and Biedrins would be solid for years to come. How about: Adonal Foyle Salary: $7,312,500 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 4.2 REB: 5.9 AST: 0.5 PER: 10.18 Mickael Pietrus Salary: $1,910,520 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 11.4 REB: 3.5 AST: 0.9 PER: 12.90 for Tony Delk Salary: $2,925,000 Years Remaining: 0 PTS: 2.0 REB: 2.0 AST: 0.0 PER: 16.31 Zaza Pachulia Salary: $4,000,000 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 11.4 REB: 8.1 AST: 1.7 PER: 14.84 We could toss in Chris Taft and it will still work. Zaza would be awesome in the middle.
Here's another that works: Mike Wilks Salary: $771,123 Years Remaining: 0 PTS: 1.2 REB: 0.8 AST: 0.5 PER: 2.05 Drew Gooden Salary: $4,065,811 Years Remaining: 0 PTS: 10.9 REB: 8.8 AST: 0.8 PER: 19.21 Zydrunas Ilgauskas Salary: $8,743,238 Years Remaining: 4 PTS: 16.0 REB: 7.4 AST: 1.2 PER: 21.69 for Adonal Foyle Salary: $7,312,500 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 4.2 REB: 5.9 AST: 0.5 PER: 10.18 Troy Murphy Salary: $7,365,079 Years Remaining: 5 PTS: 15.9 REB: 9.5 AST: 1.3 PER: 16.82 Mickael Pietrus Salary: $1,910,520 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 11.4 REB: 3.5 AST: 0.9 PER: 12.90 We get Big Z and dump the other 2 players. They get Murphy to stretch the D and high-flying Pietrus to take some of the load off LeBron. This is a good trade for both teams IMO.
Yeah, I gotta think Murphy has some value right now, and boy we know Pietrus has some value too -- I don't mind moving Murph because we can get something for him and we have Ike waiting to take over the PF spot (hopefully!). As far as Pietrus, I'd hate to see him go -- but c'mon guys -- you really think Mullin will be able to afford the $10+ million contract he demands in the off season? Look at Dunleavy's contract -- that dude makes more than half the Eastern Conference All-Star Team!!!! Mullin has overpaid his a$$ into submission, so the best thing is to shed some $$, especially Foyle or Fisher, but also that phat wad that Murphy is making (I'd include Dunleavy here but no one will take him). So, instead of fooling ourselves into thinking we'll be able to resign Pietrus (unless we shed some other contracts to make room for him) let's trade him while he's hot. That Cavs trade lands us a good center and some $$ off the books.
I just hope Ike Diogu can deliver consistently every game, because that's what starters have to do. If he doesn't, us fans will get impatient again. Let's just say Mullin will continue to overspend on someone else even if he does a salary dump. There's no hope unless Mullin reads Moneyball by Billy Beane and lays off the sauce. Actually, re-signing Dunleavy could pay off at some point, who knows. But the Fish and Foyle ones... damn... don't give Mullin anymore MLE or cap space he'll probably blow it anyway! C'mon Cohan stretch that budget, man!
Here's another one: Troy Murphy Salary: $7,365,079 Years Remaining: 5 PTS: 15.9 REB: 9.5 AST: 1.3 PER: 16.82 Calbert Cheaney Salary: $1,760,000 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 1.8 REB: 1.4 AST: 0.4 PER: 5.65 Chris Taft Salary: $423,762 Years Remaining: 0 PTS: 2.8 REB: 2.1 AST: 0.1 PER: 15.88 for Primoz Brezec Salary: $2,750,000 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 12.2 REB: 5.6 AST: 0.6 PER: 15.22 Brevin Knight Salary: $4,600,000 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 12.6 REB: 3.4 AST: 8.4 PER: 18.3 Charlotte has shown interest in trading Knight. They are really in a good position, financially, despite being low in the standings. Their two biggest contracts will be Okeafor at $4.5 mil and Gerald Wallace at $5 mil. They are waiting for the right peice to build on. I think Murphy would give them a solid 4 to start alongside Okeafor at the 5. Plus, they'll get Taft (prospect) and Cheaney's $ comes of the books. We'll get Primo -- a big 7'1" center who could really fill up the paint. Start him alongside Ike, and we'll have a solid frontcourt. Don't know if Charlotte would do it though.
Isn't Brezec kind of Murphy-like already? And with Taft I dunno... they already have Emeka Okafor, so I'd imagine they need a shooting guard or a wing or some kind of scorer. Charlotte GM Bernie Bickerstaff has been trying to go for low salary, short term contracts so he can figure out who to build around. If there's a franchise guy, he'll probably start spending on free agents with all the cap he has. He probably won't add on more salary since the Bobcats plan is to develop young guys and keep building through the draft. I don't think the franchise plans to start going on a playoff run anytime soon and if they do, it'll probably be before us.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">I just hope Ike Diogu can deliver consistently every game, because that's what starters have to do. Right now, Foyle easily gets more shots than Diogu and that's just absurd. One thing people may forget with Ike is that he missed all of training camp, pre-season, and the first month of the season. We may not really see what his limitations are until mid-season of 06-07. As for trades, Cleveland's interest in Fisher may be a good opporunity to dump some salary but theres nothing on that roster that is of equal value to him. There would probably have to be a 3 team deal. Right now there isnt much out there that would help our team immediately, I would just be thrilled if we dumped Foyle.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Isn't Brezec kind of Murphy-like already?</div> I dunno, Brezec is 7'1", 255 pounds -- He could be a true big-center. But for Charlotte, acquiring Murphy wouldn't mean going on a playoff run, it would just mean acquiring a solid PF to start alongside Okeafor. Murphy's contract isn' t outrageous. That would be a good tandem for years to come. For GS, it'd make room for Ike, and it would land us a legit 7 footer. As for Taft, well, there's nothing to lose, it just makes the numbers work.
