I just read a story about the ACLU suing New Mexico State becuase coach Hal Mumme had players routinely recite the Lord's Prayer during practices and before games. When I was playing in high school, this was a part of our routine as well. I always just assumed it still was. Without getting into the issue of whether this is appropriate or not, I want to know if this was done when you were playing, and especially, if this is still done today at practice if you are still playing....
i go to a private school so we pray all the time...but a friend of mine at a public school says they do a moment of silence...
I contacted my high school coach, who happens to have 3 devout muslims on his team, including the star RB who is a serious div. 1a prospect....he said that he talked to the Muslim players before the season to establish what would be offensive to them....they worked out a prayer that didnt mention God or Jesus, instead saying Lord or Father....he doesnt lead it, but one of his seniors does and everyone participates, even the Muslims....it seems like he handled it well, better than the famous Hal Mumme....
